If it is as easy as just updating your frequent flier account profile with your name, date of birth and gender, will other airlines start similar procedures or are some already doing so?

Others have already been doing it for a time now. I know G4 was doing it when I went to MO last month. Also, DL and AS were when I bought tix to AK in July.

We need your name as it appears on your drivers license. Most of the time, your FF program already has that info but double check. When you are making reservations from now on... you will need your full name as stated above, date of birth, and gender. Phase 2 of this program goes into effect I believe next year. That is when it gets more involved with the TSA and the watch lists.

AA started doing this for reservations purchased as of/after September 15th, too.

What comes under Phase 2?
And how is TSA more involved?

What I don't understand about this: How can a terrorist be of any danger to the flight after he has cleared the security check point at the airport?

CO Already asks for all of this information. If it is not in your OnePass profile (if you are a FF with them) they will ask you to update it.
Always wonderers if this "last and final boarding call" is in fact THE last and final boarding call.

Probably because they're more likely than the rest of us to have an undetectable explosive stuck up their arse.

The hijackers who brought the planes down on 9/11 also went through security...
This is not designed to "increase" security, this is to help reduce passengers getting pulled out for the watch list, when they should not have been. This more of a save time sort of program.
I am glad I got notified by SWA about this because my name used in the FF Program did NOT match my ID used for traveling! And to think I used to work there as a CSA and didn't catch my own mistake..
