There has been information out that SAS was to lease in one of BMI´s new A330-200 from the beginning of May.The BMI A330-200 was intended be used on one of the two daily B767-300 services between CPH and EWR so that the B767-300 was available for the IAD route. However it´s been a while since this BMI-lease was in the news and it seems that BMI needs it´s A330-200s for its new schedules from MAN to IAD and ORD! Does anyone know if SAS or BMI changed plans regarding the lease and what SAS intends to do to have an aircraft available for the IAD route?

Cheers
Thomas

I thougt that BMI had ordered 3 A330 and that it therefore would be one A330 left for SAS. I haven't heard anything that SAS wouldn't get the A330, and I really hope that they do.

Hi GOT

SAS´ own A330´s (A330-300) will arrive next summer (2002) and will be powered by RR Trent 772 engines and operate in a three-class Business, Economy Plus and Economy configuration. The A340´s are due late this summer.

SAS A333s will indeed be powered by the Trent 772B.

More info here in this Yahoo! Finance article: http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/010424/lntu001a.html

In the article it states SAS has ordered 4 A333s not 3. Or was that a typo?

It seems like SAS has converted one of their options for A330/340 into a firm order of an A330-300. This information can be found at http://www.sasflightops.com/.

The bmi A330 going on lease to Scando is at Toulouse at the moment, delivery to bmi in about a week and in service with Scando from 12th May.

bmi have three A330s this year - the first has been delivered to bmi for MAN-IAD, the second is going on lease to Scando and is in "washing line" colours, and the third is for bmi for MAN-ORD which starts in early June.

The info stated above by Andy is the same that I heard, and it will be second bmi A332 that will be leased to SAS in the star alliance color scheme.

I thought that the A332 leased by SAS was going to fly the IAD route. Maybe it has been changed, any updates?

When will the leased aircraft be returned to bmi?
