Sorry if this has already been posted: the german magazine "Der Spiegel" reports that the first A380 for Lufthansa was in the air! It will soon be moved to XFW and join Lufthansa's fleet in March. The link also includes a set of three nice pictures:

It is fair to say that this article just delivers facts, and nothing is obvious wrong, nor any tendency.

Excellent news! It's a bit odd to read this thread while there's another thread detailing the long-term storage plans for the 744 fleet...but welcomed news nonetheless!

Can't wait to see it grace the skies above FRA!

well, nitpicking I have to say that its Airbus, who did the first flight of LHs first 380. Not LH itself....

and I guess Airbus will deliver slightly more frames than 4 in 2010...

but then, for the SPIEGEL... well done Big grin

Airbus bashing. "Der Spiegel" is Anti-French, Anti-European, so how this could go through is a miracle to me.

The first article I read in Spiegel, I was still very young, about aviation was about the first A300 flights. It compared the A300 to the VFW614 and clearly showed how wrong the A300 was compared to the VFW614, that was just the future of aviation.

I noticed that the belly of the plane ist painted white. Is this just some sort of primer and has this been white on all A380s before final painting or might we see a little change in the LH livery?

The "non-metallic" (CFRP etc.) parts of the fuselage have to be painted to protect them from the UV part of the sunlight.

Every A380 off the FAL has this white primer color applied to the wingbox. A brief look into the photo database will give you the answer.
