Saw this press release from DEN noting that traffic in August 2009 was up 2.8% from August 2008. I found this quite surprising considering that Denver hosted the Democratic National Convention last August and with the general decline in the economy. Some interesting notes from the linked data;
- UA+international+regionals+Ted not counting ZK market share YTD is 46.38%, down from 47.73% in 2008
- F9+international+Lynx+Republic market share YTD is 23.43%, down from 25.92% in 2008
- WN market share YTD is 13.88%, up from 8.24% in 2008.
- The total of DEN's "big three" of UA, F9 and WN YTD is 86.18%, up from 81.89% in 2008
Therefore, it could be argued that while WN is eating into F9's and UA's market share, it looks like WN is eating more into the market shares of DL/NW, AA, and CO more.
