Sorry if this has been posted tonight but when I landed at 430pm today at DEN there was a NW 744 parked at gate A37 or so. Anyone know what this plane was doing here?

Oh wait, was it the New England Patriots charter?

If it was - sorry but that'll be a long flight home to Beantown. GO BRONCOS!!

I think this flight is the Patriots.

I saw that plane upon arrival, too. Thought it might be from ATL but they don't bring the 763 from ATL until ski season.

Maybe the NW 744 is the Phillies charter?

We at United send 744's through DEN as scheduled flights when we can. Its nice to be able to route SFO-DEN-ORD when we have the availability to do so.

FYI: During the holidays DEN will see some great hub to hub rotations! If anyone wants the chance to fly on something that is usually only International this would be a great time to do that!

It was still parked on the ramp when I arrived in Denver at 10:00 this morning (Mon). Nice to still see the NWA paint job on those big boys.

It's N669US. I'm looking at it right now from Concourse B. It's parked in the west de-icing pad between the B and C concourses.

I was under the obviously wrong impression that only 742s were to be used for charters (and that was the only reason they were still around), that all 744s were spoken for in scheduled service. Has this changed lately, or have I been wrong all along ?

Looks like NW switched them up for the return. 673 brought the Nuggets from DEN but looks like 669 brought them back. 669 was the plane that brought the Pacers over but they rode back on 673. Don't know why that was done but they did the same thing with the Saints and Chargers to London last year. Saints rode over in 624 and back on 623 and Chargers did the opposite.

If I remember correctly DL is going to be parking a few of the 744s for the winter so I'm guessing there is some slack starting to happen.

Is there a maintenance issue with this aircraft? I saw a lot of people focused on something either on the #3 engine or something with the landing gear...couldn't tell because of the distance from the terminal.

The 744s have been used off and on for charter ops for quite some time. And once the 742s go away very soon, the 744s will be used regularly in the classic's place.
