It has, perhaps been rumored, but now it appears that it is a certainty that the LGB plant formerly housing the DC-9 through 717 lines will become a film studio:

They had actually struck a deal for this to happen earlier this year, but they fell out of escrow when the financing couldn't be finalized. In recent weeks, the competition had been heating up as Long Beach also reached out to Tesla. Tesla was deciding between Long Beach and Downey as the place to build their new electric sedan.

The good news here is that some locals got the old Fly DC Jets sign registered as a historic landmark. So that will have to be kept lighted and maintained regardless of what happens!

From the source article:
"O'Halloran said the Long Beach project will be the hub of a chain of five movie studios to be built around the country. "

That's interesting. Where will the competition be built?

Bummer no more commercial aircraft production at Long Beach, but its not as if California is a low cost state.  Sad
