I was wondering how well the flights were doing to Orlando now that the Lehigh Valley has had the option of two Carriers going direct to Orlando. I know G4 was doing well before FL came into town. Now the two have existed since late June, and FL now seems to be doing MCO daily. It was I believe either 3 or 4 weekly flights, along with FLL on the days MCO didn't operate. When did this change? I also noticed FLL ended at some point and is set to resume on November 5th. I also noticed G4 was operating over the summer it seemed almost daily to SFB, now they are doing about 4 weekly. Any info would nice, sure am curious to see how long this pans out and if the region will continue to support there local airport.

My guess is that eventually G4 cancels ABE-SFB and only flies to PIE or FLL. Whenever a competitor enters a G4 market they almost always cancel service and exit the market since loosing money is not part of their business plan, they don't continue flying markets that loose money just to prove a point to a competitor.

Wow, wasnt aware FL had made any changes to their original frequencies. I wonder how TYS and AVL are doing?

It looks like they just tossed the ABE-FLL aircraft on ABE-MCO. When they bring FLL back, MCO goes back to 4x.

I didn't realize either. I wonder if FLL wasn't doing the best. But it is coming back so who knows. I did notice MCO times changed back and forth like the original times when it was MCO and FLL.

Looked like FLL ran at 91% in July based on numbers posted in another thread. I think the distance of the route hurts it. I'm guessing thats around 2:20 in the 717. They were probably having trouble charging what they need to to make that work.

I saw the loads also, the numbers were better than MDT, but flying daily versus 3-4 weekly could make a difference too. We will see if MDT-FLL works, it starts the same time ABE-FLL resumes, and I'm actually on the first flight.
G4 did serve FLL from ABE at one point, and I guess it didn't work for them. Leisure markets can be hard to predict when your close to so many bigger airports with slightly lowers fares and more daily flights. CRW shouldn't have that problem though.

What airline continues to fly a market if they lose money? But if they give up that easily it shows they are very weak and just throw in the towel and says to the competitor "Here you can have our customers."

a bit off topic, but is there any hope anybody will start anything besides a fun-and-sun destination? FL to ATL? I guess AA is adding ORD.

That's the glass half empty.

The glass half full is: Why bother putting time, money and effort into a war of attrition? Better divert resources to some other low-hanging fruit. So long as they can keep finding low-hanging fruit (both routes and pax), it doesn't matter if they give up somewhere.
