I can't find this on any news outlets, but a friend of mine posted this on Facebook.

http://www.inquisitr.com/44141/explo...rashed-spirit-airlines-flight-837/

Spirit Airlines Flight #837 from FLL.

I hope that it's not true.

Cheers,
Drew MCO

Unfortunately, Flightaware is very unreliable in stuff such as this. I hope you're right, and I'm wrong.

A friend who lives in San Juan posted on my Facebook page that it was NOT a plane crash and the plane has been found after losing contact with ATC for 27 minutes.

I hope that is that case and this thread can be locked with everyone safe and sound.

I don't really know what to believe right now.

Cheers,
Drew MCO

Yeah, I know. It had showed arrived, now it shows arriving shortly. We'll see what happens. Hopefully all are on board safe and sound.

A very large explosion though, it registered as an earthquake!

837 was in at the gate at 0227. Just a freak coincidence that the oil reserve exploded.

The media is starting to report it, though it's still unconfirmed

Explosion near San Juan, Puerto Rico believed to be Crashed Spirit Airlines Flight 837

Quote:
DEVELOPING STORY: A dramatic explosion near San Juan, Puerto Rico tonight is believed to be missing Spirit Airlines Flight 837 tha left Fort Lauderdale, Florida on it’s way to Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in San Juan.

I hope it turns out to be false.

It has been confirmed that every flight operating tonight and earlier today has arrived safely, and this time landing on Runway 26 to avoid the smoke, which is in the path for runway 10 approach. Apparently 12 oil tanks exploded and they still have no clue what happened.

But ALL FIGHTS LANDED SAFELY... just listening to the radio... you can tune in too..

checkmark  though there wouldn't much point in locking it if it just gets deleted, but I concur.  silly  If not, great to see airliners are safe for tonight, though hopefully the oil refinery situation isn't too bad.

True, but the information has since been proven to be fallacious, and for people just tuning into airliners.net, that's a pretty alarming thread title existing only for what turned out to be a false report.
