Well, I wasnt on the plane but I was in Lockerbie when PA103 was blown out of the sky.
There was a loud explosion, much louder than anything I've ever heard, there was this big ball of flames falling from the sky quite fast, then when the a/c hit the ground there was a very loud thud-noise.
There was flames all over the region of Lockerbie in which the fuselage hit. Bodies were all over the place, everyone was crying. There was a smell of gas in the air and also another smell, which I cannot describe.
Also one of my mates died as a result of the crash.

I've never been in a crash, thank God. But I've met Al Haynes (spelling? perhaps Hanes) who captained the UA DC10 in Sioux City, Iowa. His story was incredible.
I have a deep respect for that man.
I love America. I guess that makes me Bush's poodle, but I'd rather be a dog in New York City than a prince in Riyadh.

The night of TWA800, my parents and I were in the park, and I saw a light going up, and then what I thought was a really slow shooting star going down. When we came home and heard about the crash, the next day my parents took me back to the park to point out which direction I saw it... sure enough, it was the right direction.

Gkirk- sorry to hear one of your mates died in that crash. I haven't been in a crash(thank God) but several crashes have occured at DFW, mostly Delta. Delta flight 111, an L1011 crashed in '88 because of windshear, I was too young to remember the coverage, but both sets of grandparent's had friends who died in tha crash and if you are from Dallas, you might have heard of the family. It was the voguls who started the vogul alcove, a womens shelter of some sort in Dallas(not sure what exact type of shelter). Also a Delta 732 crashed and I really don't know about that one
VirginLover- that experience must have been shocking!

I really don't think you'll find anyone in this forum that has been in a aircraft crash of any appreciable magnitude. Crashes are rare and anyone having said they survived a severe one are probably bull***ing.
