exactly ten years ago Croatia Airlines flew inaugural Zagreb-Split flight with croatian president Franjo Tudjman on board
back then they had two MD-82's leased from Adria Airways - and now they have 7 Airbuses (4xA319+3xA320) and 3 ATR-42's

Congrats to Croatia Airlines, I wish them well.

9A-CRO could you tell me about their flights to Pula and Rijeka airport? I wonder how those airports expended in last 10 years.

Many years ago my folks used to work on Pula airport, when there was a restaurant with open terrace next to tarmac. It was beautiful sight -- with lots of DC9s, BAC1-11s and TU134s... some of my favourite memories from childhood. I know that the terminal building and parking have been expanded in the area where the restaurant used to be.

I wonder how many flights Pula and Rijeka have today.

Regards,
KUGN

9A-CRO, thanks. The site is not opening right now, but I'll sure try later.

I've seen recently airport Vrsar has grown in recent years. The air taxi in the area is probably providing some of the best scenic flights in Europe.

Btw, this is very nice livery on Airbus!

Vrsar growth must be largely contributed to North Adria Aviation which is based there

I just read on teletext that goverment will invest 1.5mil Kunas in Pula airport (about 400.000 DEM)
.
there is an airline named Air Adriatic based in Pula, but with HQ in Rijeka due to start operations soon with two MD-82 and two Do-328 (mostly charter, but some scheduled routes as well)
but I have recently read about Rijeka based airline Air Croatia due to start operations in August with two 737's and two Do328Jets (only sched ops were mentioned in the article)
so I am not sure if these are tow different airlines or Air Adriatic was renamed (it is rather impropable that two airlines with such similar fleets want to start at same place at a same time)

Once again, thanks for the link 9A-CRO, this one goes to my bookmark collection.

Its nice to see there are quite few startups in the northern Adriatic region; hopefully, they'll capture charter market, and maybe even merge some day and have solid regional schedueled service. Malpanesa and Vienna (according to the AeroCroatia web site no flights from Pula/Rijeka right now) are very close so hopefully some code sharings could be done. Why not?  Smile

Congradulations to Croatia Airlines, I wish them the best in the future. I have flown with OU several times, and I think they are a very good airline. I can't wait until they order widebodies, so I can see them in New York!!

All the best for them,

such a many memories regarding Croatia Airlines. I have took a foto of the first MD82 painted in their's colors on the Tivat Airport in 1991. The flight was Zagreb-Sarajevo-Tivat and I wondered than "what should Croatia Airlines become??", after all that happens and after 10 years I see what it is, a young and efficent national currier.

GOOD LUCK to them

SVE NAJBOLJE I PUNO SRECE U RADU
