Anyone here ever flown with Cathay Pacific? How were your trips with them? Did CP ever use the L1011?

Sorry I cannot help you in telling you about flying with them but i wish i could. but in regards to your question Yes Cathy flew the L-1011 on long range flights. i think that they flew the 500 series. they flew it on the Pacific routes!

Hey Smokey,

I have flown with Cathay Pacific and found their service to be beyond exceptional. The entire experience, from booking the ticket to getting home went without incident.

The cabin crew are deservant of particular mention. Their friendly and extremely helpful nature really sticks in ones mind. They are a tribute to Cathay Pacific in their own right.

Have no hesitation, do as I do....

That's just my opinion, and I am sure others will have things to say as well...

Kind Regards
Craig Murray

The services provided by Cathay Pacific are just excellent. I have flown with them for many times. They have excellent schedules compared with othere airlines. Their safety record is also one of the best in Asia. Try it and I am sure you will enjoy your experience with them!

Cathay Pacific used L1011 for its pacific routes (Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Australia and Middle East countries). However, they had all been phased out and replaced with B777-200, B777-300 and A330-300. I think most of them were L1011-100. I don't think that they had 500 series.

Hope that it will be useful for you.

I have flown Cathay Pacific from Bangkok to Hongkong on a A340. I have to tell you, that the inflight service was nothing but excellent.

The cabin crew came with small lists, where you could deside what and when you wanted diffrent kind of service. And this was just i economic class.

I would think CX's regional flights are excellent , PTVs on every seats including coach , the cabin crews are just great. The Long Haul's services and some of their menus are excellent as well.. however , watchout.. some of their 747-400 does not have PTV.. I booked my flighht for

via HKG ... i booked CX over the other airlines because of their PTVs.. but turned out that their HKG - AMS and LHR - BKK ( Long Haul 744 ) had an old paint scheme , no PTV.. I was really disappointed , however their FAs services are Marvellous

I flew in Cathays L1011 in Marco Polo Class many years ago and the service was good. But they have got even better with the newer aircraft. Great inflight service. I dont know about regional flights but on HKG/PER they offer a choice of THREE main meals! And this is Y Class too.
Highly recommended airline. You will have no regrets. This is one airline that STAR should've worked harder to get!!

Well, there you have it Smokey - six "A" grades" for Cathay and I'll add a seventh. It is a superb airline. Like Thai 747, I was a little cheesed off byb the fact that not all 747-400s (or any of the 777-200s) have been fitted with PTVs, but don't let that put you off what will be a superb experience. It is, in my view, the best airline in the world.

You won't be flying L1011s; they were retired in 96/97 and only -1s/100s were used, not -500s - and they were never used on Pacific flights, just regional services.

Look forward to it - you'll enjoy it!
