Quoting Jolau1701 (Reply 5): Are ramp, CS, and maintenance also getting new uniforms?
Flight attendants, pilots, CS, MX and ramp are all getting new uniforms. Roadshows are starting next week to gather employee input and an online survey has been set up to
gather more information and input.
Sounds like UAL is doing it right this time unlike last uniform change with the fa's. We were more or less forced into the current drab uniform. CS has not had a change in many years
so it's nice to see a change company wide.

Quoting ORDnHKG (Reply 8): It is already in the transition, int'l F and C already got the new china, probably you haven't flown UA lately.
LOL, I am a UA flight attendant based in FRA, so yes I have flown UA lately.
I realize the china recieved an overhaul in the last few months. Pursers here in FRA have been told to expect a complete overhaul from china to uniforms. The question was asked about our current china and the answer was to expect a complete overhaul of the inflight product.

Quoting 4everRC (Reply 3): When I saw the headline, my first thought was "How much will they look like CO's uniforms?"
Quoting JU068 (Reply 10): So which brand would dissappear? UA or CO?
It would be a shame for either one to go...
Sheesh am I tired of the merger speculation......why would UA invest hundreds of thousands of dollars on a product transformation if they were on the eve of a merger?
Also, it is going to take an airline to go into bankruptcy before any merger would take place. Once we see one of the two file for bankruptcy, the speculation can actually begin. Until then, we're beating a dead horse

Yet another new uniform for yet another airline, but not AA. Good for UA. The current AA uniform was introduced 20 years ago, and the company has decided to piece meal something of a "refreshed" uniform with additional pieces, but not a new uniform. Flight attendants, pilots and CSRs have a new flat front pant option available next month. CSRs received new ties a year or so ago and male flight attendants will get new ones at the end of 2010, along with a new striped shirt. Female F/As get a new blouse, striped shirt and "shirt jacket." I just wish, for once, AA wouldn't half ass something and come up with a completely new uniform that is stylish, functional, and that lasts.
Our current uniform has pieces made in Poland and the US, and each is not the same blue. It's obvious when they're worn together and it looks totally tacky. It's well documented on here AA's F/As look disheveled and unprofessional at best. That's due to several reasons, not the least of which involves AA's lack of uniform enforcement along with a uniform that is outdated, uncomfortable and nearly unwearable. Plus, AA cut our uniform allotment in 2003, making it impossible for employees to keep a fresh uniform without digging into their own pockets.

It's about time. I wouldn't even use the garbage they give us now to dry my car. Even though the company pays for the uniforms. We on the ramp rather spend our own money and buy better stuff from our local stores. Ever since they got rid of Unitog, the quality has gone down hill.
I hope they don't give the ramp the same as CS. Who gives rampers white work shirts?

With the new F and C on UA, along with a number of better products like p.s. Have UA seen a bump up in their customer satisfaction?
I think the new F and C are really beautiful and comfortable. A giant step forward from where they were.

A big bump up according to UA...both in customer satisfaction and definite intent to repurchase.
Absolutely nothing wrong with Oneida! I have a beautiful flatware collection by them. Some could say the same about Noritake. When I hear that name I think of "The Price is Right" or "Lets Make a Deal". No Oneida isn't Royal Copenhagen, Wedgewood, Spode, Lenox, or even Royal Doulton with hand painted periwinkles. I would imagine those wouldn't handle too well on a plane, but its still a good brand.
Yes that's the joke going around that the new UA uniforms will be CO, but of course that is nonsense. You seriously think a Designer would put their name on a product that is used just as a farce?! I think not.

I guess they could do that if UA was Keeping Up Appearances.
Kudos to UA for doing this; a fresh look for the company, plus the fact they are gathering employee feedback, hopefully is a sign of better things to come.

Don't forget Daisy....shes not the one with a Mercedes and room for a pony...
Well whatever the uniforms will end up being I'm thinking the predominate color may just be blue... Maybe UA will come out with the blue version of DLs red dress...

Quoting 1stfl94 (Reply 25): Sorry for being a fashion dunce but what is 'shirt jacket' supposed to be!
Well, don't be so hard on yourself! I don't think such a thing exists much outside the world of uniforms, and I certainly wouldn't put it and fashion in the same sentence!
Think of a blazer, but with short sleeves and several buttons down the front. It's basically the equivalent of wearing a shirt and blazer all in one. They're very common in the industry, although AA hasn't had one before, or at least not for a very long time.
Follow the link below. It's to UniformFreak.com and Alaska's uniform page. Scroll to the bottom of the page. The image that is at the far left, second row from the bottom is a shirt jacket.

That's almost like when some employers nowadays when they ask an employee right before they are going to be furloughed, "So, how much do you like change?"

From what it seems they've just entered the design phase and are seeking input from various employee groups about their respective uniforms. It will probably be several months before we see any prototypes.

UAL needs to improve more than just uniforms IMO. Their inflight product leaves much to be desired, especially when compared to international airlines. I think getting flight attendents who dont hate their job and take it out on the customer, would be a better start, than something as useless as new uniforms.

WOW this is the last thing UA management need to worry about. The BOD needs to shake the tree to get rid of the dead wood in the top of the tree. If you know what I mean! Once they get that done and some new management blood infused to UA then and only then they should look at the uniforms.
Fix the other problems and the attitudes will change and the uniforms will stat to look better because the front line staff will have pride in their company again. That will mean they will take care of their uniforms better and they will treat their customers better, thus the company will look better to the general public.

I think the the new uniform would be great nice fresh start, what really need to be addressed is the presentation and grooming standards. Things like correct shoes, hand luggage, make-up.... etc this is what really makes or breaks a new uniform these standard, it's not about removing individuality but presenting a perfect imagine every time not a mirror image.
I don't think weight is a big factor so long as the staff are able to preform their duties and their uniform fits correctly.

Go UA! I know you're screwed one way or another. If you kept the current uniform you'd be knocked for being drap and dull. If you change it's sighted as a cosmetic change when UA faces so many uphill battles. True.
But if it's dinnerware or uniforms, an upgrade is an upgrage and I see it as a sign of a positive future. Innovation comes slowly to UA, but when they decide to do it like in F & C and p.s. she can.
Go friendly skies,

Great news! The current UA uniforms are not to professional looking... The vest the Male F/As wear is hideous. I hope they do away with that in the next uniform! I liked the uniform UA had before the current one a lot better.

Good for UA although most UA flights I've been on the F/As are dressed professionally. Guys wear vests and girls wear the blazers and such. I've seen some major slacking off with uniforms over at AA through the years.

I wonder if UA will get Sheridan to do the needlework
It's one thing to have new designer uniform, but if the dress code isn't properly enforced, everyone will eventually end up looking like Onslow in a night-dress.
It gets a little lonely when you're way up there...
