One of the craziest stories I have ever read,
GRIFFIN, Ga. -- Delta Air Lines suspended a pilot who was arrested and charged with trying to strike officers with his plane (not a DL plane but his personal DC-3) at the Griffin-Spalding Airport.

It can mean different things... in my town, the code enforcement department does stuff like making sure the people parked in municipal lots have the proper parking permits, and that residential houses keep their grass cut below a foot.
Generally code enforcement officers make sure people are following local municipal laws, as opposed to investigating criminal matters.

Quoting 777STL (Reply 6): Yes, you see we have laws here.
Yes... In some places it's under the control of a thing called a "Home Owners Association" in other places it's run by the city. It's not just in the US, I've lived in Germany pretty much my entire life and there are people there (can't remember the name for them) that go around making sure certain aspects of the house and property are in good repair. Grass is cut, car is washed, make sure the driveway/sidewalk in front of the house is shoveled and sanded in the winter, etc...

Maybe the guy is a nutjob, but without the testimony of other witnesses or a dashboard cam video, perhaps it's better to wait before flaming him.
Maybe he was just being an ass to the Spalding County cops because of the citations, and they felt he was not "respecting their authoritah!," making the rest of the story up. The fuel part sounds fishy to me. But who knows?

Sounds like a pissing contest where nobody "blinked."
I wonder what the citations were for. If they were for the driving on airport property, he should have gotten on the phone with AOPA or his attorney instead of trying to be a "badder dude" than the officer was trying to be.
Stupidly escalating a ridiculous situation, unfortunately, might just get him canned.

Good for Delta for suspending him. There is no way a pilot who behaved the way he did should be allowed to fly again, especially for a commercial airliner.
Once again, I will never understand why pilots spend all of their hard work and money and blow it all away with an incident like this.
At least nobody got hurt in this incident.

He's lucky they were code enforcement officers, and not regular cops. We'd be reading a thread about a dead Delta pilot.

Almost every department, including mine, has a policy about firing into moving vehicles. Firing into, or at, a moving vehicle (an airplane included) is generally prohibited unless you can articulate one hell of a great reason. Basically, I would have to prove that firing into said vehicle was going to stop the threat and not cause more danger than others or myself are already in. Neutralizing the pilot of a moving aircraft, no matter how much danger I am in, is more likely than not going to cause greater danger, considering we now have a pilotless airplane moving/taxiing/flying about.

People cant just assume hes a nut job just because he does not want to listen to the code authority personal. I bet you they are after him for several small infractions that were probably so ridiculous from the get-go, and he was most likely just sick of hearing it and decided to bust outta there.
However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results

LOL. I agree with you; I've heard of some first-hand negative experiences with HOAs but on the other hand I appreciate that my HOA helps to prevent blight in my neighborhood (no kids' toys left lying out front, no neglected landscape that would make my street look like crap, no boats on trailers, no RVs, etc.), which is why I chose to live here; no one forced my hand.
