A Porter Airlines pilot passes out about 45 minutes after departure. They had to turn around and go back to YHZ. The co-pilot landed the plane safely. The pilot was able to walk to the ambulance. The plane then departed later after about an hour and a half delay.

Not much more info yet on CBC or CTV.

Hopefully nothing serious, although I'd imagine the pilot will require some pretty involved medical testing before being considered for return to duty.

I hope all is well with the pilot. I have often wondered, does an inflight medical incident like this end a pilots career?

I've thought that too. It all probably depends on what the medical condition is. If it turns out he was just sick, then maybe not, but if they uncover a bigger medical condition the pilot has, then it very well could be the end of the pilots career.
