Story that ran on Reuters website apparently LOI signed at Dubai Airshow but I have not seen it mentioned anywhere else. Anyone have more info?

Quote
"Airbus (EAD.PA) has signed a letter of intent to sell four A320 and two A330 aircraft to Senegal Airlines, according to a statement on Wednesday.

Senegal Airlines, the new national carrier of the West African country, will launch services to other African destinations in early 2010......"

Was this omitted from Airbus because it is only an LOI?

I think it is great news for African aviation. Another airline with modern Airbus fleet giving Africans more choice. Well done Senegal Airlines and Airbus

It was mentioned here Dubai Airshow 2009 (by Emirates2005 Nov 11 2009 in Civil Aviation)? , but no separate thread was started about it.

Here as well.. http://www.airbus.com/en/presscentre...ms/09_11_18_senegal_a320_a330.html

An order (LoI) for 6 planes is not to neglect 2009.
I think we still are spoiled by the mega orders from 2007 and 2008.

Strange that Senegal Airlines was only mentioned in a general Dubai thread with no individual thread. It is not like Dubai was busting with orders. Africa not exciting enough for the aviation enthusuzies?

Does anyone know if it will be two or three class layout on the A330s?

It's more along the spelling of "n'est-ce pas?", but we get the idea loud and clear!

Very nice indeed and very exciting news!

I want the European Union flag on airliners.net!

Senegal Airlines are being supported by Emirates.

DUBAI, U.A.E., 18th November 2009 - On the sidelines of the Dubai Airshow, the Government of Senegal and Emirates Group today announced a joint agreement paving the way for Emirates to support Senegal Airlines.

From your link: "it was agreed the Emirates Group will assist the Senegalese carrier in the start-up and post launch phases. "

It sounds like EK is selling consulting services on the side. Smart in this economy.

Lightsaber

They like to start operations in 2010, so where did those aircraft come from?
A330-200 from Emirates ?
A320 ?
