To my surprise, last week I discovered the forward fuselage of a Fokker 100 painted with Emirates titles in the new Kidzania entertainment zone of the Dubai Mall.
Now I wonder, which aircraft is it? Apparently, the operator of Kidzania is from Mexico, so maybe an ex Click Mexicana F100?
I'll post a photo of it by tomorrow.

Iran has a few F100s - quite close-ish to to Dubai... maybe one of those?

I don't see the point of shipping an F100 all the way from Mexico to DXB. Kidzania is a company registered in Mexico. It does not mean it cannot source the materials required for their business model somewhere else.

I thought about Iran too but I think they prefer to keep them flying, the F100 is one of their more modern types and they have been adding more of them still recently.

A few in this case means about 36  Smile
It might be the remains of the F100 that skidded of the runway about a year ago though.

And the plane they have here in Monterrey is a DC9 from Aerocaribe, but painted on MX colors, I´ll try to get a pic soon.

Hmmm these Kidzania people sound cool. I wonder if I could get them to do a design for my basement?  wink  Although I'd have to scale down from a transport category aircraft to a 152 or something.  Smile

The fuselage at Kidzania extends to approx the wing, so they must have repaired the damage if that's the one.

That would not be a problem, parts are plentiful available.

In KidZania Jakarta there is the forward fuselage of a Fokker F28. It is painted with AirAsia livery, because the airline is one of KidZania Jakarta's partners. You can see the picture here.

(Darn it Bluewater, I guess I'll have to be content with the 737 cockpit you have...)

The gear seems fake but the rest is real, which is noticeable from up close.

There is a similar concept in ove of Vancouver's malls (Richmond) where a plane has Cathay Pacific titles. Good marketing IMHO.

I don't think so, it's a mock up.
Wonder which one though.
I remember a similar mock up in the old sales center but as far as I know one of my colleagues bought it to be used in his garden.
Will drop some lines to see if I can find an answer.

OK so you mean an original manufacturer mockup - that could be.

25 Starglider : Any particular reason why a Fokker 100 fuselage was chosen to be dressed up in an Emirates livery? Presumably any type would have suited the purpose (
26 Post contains images Aviopic : Yes we had several of them. This is a F60 mock up used for F16 engine fitting which was a requirement of the Air Force. This is the F50 mock up leavi
27 Ghost77 : There are several planes around from Kidzania in Mexico like that. At Santa Fe, Western side of MEX there's an AA MD80, on the South at Plaza Cuicuilc
28 Goldenshield : Too small. They don't want to go on those cramped F-100s, with their cramped cabins, and lack of legroom. The smallest plane they'll get on is an A-3
29 Flyingfool : Just like everything else in the world's fake city... Mike
30 Aviopic : Cramped is a function of airliner not manufacturer ! Try LH A340 and you know what cramped is even though it is much bigger. Could not agree more
31 Goldenshield : You missed the sarcasm entirely.
32 CheetahC : It looks way too smooth to be real.
33 Aviopic : Still haven't been able to get a definitive answer, internally nobody seems to know about it. Guess there is no link between Fokker and "the thing" in
34 MEA-707 : and is everybody sure it's a Fokker 100? There are some F-28 Fellowships, for instance the ex Iran Aseman aircraft, which are not accounted for and mi
35 Fly-K : I only considered the F100 because of the lack of the teardrop (aka eyebrow) window. Nevertheless, thanks for your efforts!

37 Aviopic : They look like glued in place rather then screwed, thus fake. Agreed but I can't recall any scrapped F70 so we are left with a F.28 in which case som
38 Jalap : Indeed, I also noticed that both the F28 and F100 have 2 taxi lights and the F70 has only one. The MallFokker has 2...
39 Post contains links and images Aviopic : In case of a Fokker you should not take those things for granted as they are usually a customer requirement. It's harder to find 2 identical then 2 d
