Now that Flytecomm.com has totally changed the way it operates, how would you suggest I try and track a particular flight?

For example, today is the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and more than likely, Hawaiian Airlines is brining in a 767 to DFW with the Oakland Raiders on board, so they can play the Dallas Cowboys tomorrow on Thanksgiving day.

I'd love to know when that flight would be arriving so hopefully I could go out there to DFW and photograph it.

Any help, thoughts, suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated.

I wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving.

flytecomm.com, I'm not sure of,
what I usually do is go to flightaware (not sure if it is .com or .org etc.) and type in the airport of my choice,(this will give you a radar that you can zoom out) then on liveatc.net i open the airport freq. (ctr, app, or twr) and follow the aircraft..... If you have a possible flight number that would be helpful.

Looking at flightaware, HAL1048 arrived in Oakland yesterday and was N594HA according to www.acarsd.org.

http://flightaware.com/live/flight/H...8/history/20091125/0919Z/PHNL/KOAK
http://www.acarsd.org/acars_search.html

N594HA (.... HA) 1418 20091125 HA1048 (HNL-OAK)
N593HA (B763 HA) 1411 20091031 HA1048 (HNL-OAK)

Don't know what the outbound flight number will be. Last time, on the 31 October, the outbound was HAL936 (HA0936) to San Diego from Oakland, returning to OAK as HAL937.

The Raiders this year have flown only on N593HA as this aircraft has the Raiders special 50th Anniversary decal on the side so would assume that will continue. N593HA arrived in OAK from HNL last night on flight 48.

The flight numbering has always run sequentially going up one number at a time,

to SEA - 928 / 929
to MCI - 930 / 931
to IAH - 932 / 933
to EWR - 934 / 935
to SAN - 936 / 937

so figures that today's flight would be 938 and the return 939 but nothing showing yet.

Thanks for all the info and tips. Today's weather is great, the only drawback is that they are landing from the south flying north, versus the other way which would have put this bird right in front of me at Founder's Plaza.

I'm going to go check out that flight number and see if I can track it.

Why is FlyteComm messed up? Is it due to their new merger partner that they mention on the website?

I give up. I even called Hawaiian Airlines corporate offices and spoke to a very nice Captain of the airline, but he said TSA rules wouldn't allow him to give out what time they would arrive.

Guess I'll just sit out at DFW all afternoon long today and report back in.

Sorry he told you that but that sounds like bull. I forgot that HA even shows charter flights on the flight status portion of their website as does Delta so doubt there is a TSA rule against this. Just checked the flight status on the HA site and it is showing a 7:22pm estimated arrival time.

That flight was a year ago, it's gonna be HAL938.

Well doggone it, I didn't know you could track their charter flights on their website. That is awesome news, but not good news that it is coming in at 7.18 as the sun will be down.

BUMMER !!

And then of course they play the late game on Thanksgiving Day so the sun will be down when they depart back home after getting beat by the Cowboys.

FlyteComm used to work differently. You could put in just the arrival airport and it would then tell you what all flights were scheduled into that airport, for example, DFW, for the entire day. It was awesome, but it just changed recently.

Really helps if you don't know the filght number, which I did not know.

Well I wasn't for certain of the departure airport. I'm guessing the Raiders more than likely would use OAK, but they could have also departed from SFO or SJC.

Not sure about DFW but many airport websites display arrivals and departures for the current day without the need for a flight number.

The new Flytecomm is horrible! They went from being the best flight tracker to the worst. They were great to see if there is any diversions or unusual traffic at a specific airport. Now they list all the code shares as specific arrivals...its a pain in the ass to determine what is an actual airplane.

Wasn't it easier to just do it from one website rather than jump from airport website to airport website? Besides, Flytecomm also posted special movements which made it one of the best, if not the best, flight trackers out there. Not any more!

Why not contact them and ask them why they changed their system? If they get enough negative feedback they might react.

I already have; perhaps some others here can do the same. They did reply and stated they have provided a free service without advertising for 10 years, and needed a way to monetize their technology in a way to keep it free to the public. Therefore they entered the partnership with HelloMetro.

Fair enough, but that still makes it useless for what I was using it for.

My thoughts exactly. The old way worked perfectly, this new system FlyteComm.com has going is horrible for what I was using their site for.
