Happy Thanksgiving everyone,
After a long time I flew AS SEA-ANC yesterday on one of their 2 year old 738s. I was surprised that the safety demo had to be done manually. It was a half full flight so we left the gate 10 minutes early and the FAs were rushed to do all duties plus the demo manually.
Why didn't AS order them to begin with?
They have a lot of long haul flights with them and these birds will be in the AS fleet for another 15 years or so. Any ideas?
Other observations about AS;
-Digiplayers. They were missing one when the time came to collect them. Funny, they made an announcement.
-When I was looking for tickets, a slightly cheaper AS one-stop choice came up. SEA-HNL-ANC;
a 9 hour stop over in HNL would be nice if I was younger and had some time.
The Digiplayers provide a better-than-AVOD IFE experience at drastically less cost. The only hit to Alaska is that their cabin crew has to do the manual safety demo, which I like better anyway.

Interesting... wonder if you could have actually purchased a ticket SEA-HNL-ANC for less than SEA-ANC non-stop...especially with the 'connecting' time of (well) over 4 hours making it a stopover rather than a connection?
If you "had some time" ...and could actually/for sure fly SEA-HNL-ANC vs. SEA-ANC for le$$... would be a tailor-made mileage run opportunity...as in way-more-than double miles to fly between the same point A and B...and for le$$!

Just because an airline had video screens doesn't mean that they don't do a manual safety demo. B6 has a TV at every seat, but their FAs still do the demo the old-school way.

It's not a stopover if it's the first available connection via that routing.
