One of NCL's cruise ships lost power and has limped into San Juan. It is reported that NCL has chartered flights to transport passengers back home. Anyone have any info on special flights going to San Juan today or tomorrow?

That's interesting. Which NCL ship was it? *I hope it wasn't the "Pearl" - I love that ship!

Edit: I just found the news story. Is the Norwegian Dawn.

According to CruiseCritic, it was Norwegian "Dream". Apparently lost all power for awhile,
they were only able to restore partial power and diverted to SJU. Next cruise has been
cancelled. Will see if any additional cruises get cancelled. No word on which carriers
were being hired to ferry the pax from SJU to MIA or FLL.

There's an Omni DC-10 and 2 Ryan 763's enroute to SJU right now.

Also showing several more Ryans as scheduled bur don't know if that is accurate.

So glad this didn't happen in 2003 when I cruised on the ship. Does anyone know exactly how the ship lost all power? I mean did it run out of fuel, poor maintenance, prior damage that was not properly repaired? According to one news article I found this is not the first time the Dawn has lost all power and got stranded. This ship is pretty new, only 6 years old. I don't follow the cruise industry but it seems this ship have a lot of bad luck. I recall an incident from 2006 when the Dawn got hit by a rogue wave and got some windows smashed and a bunch of cabins flooded.

Hi people!

So far there had been 3 Ryan 767-300 flights and 1 Omni DC-10 flight. There should be probably 3 or 4 more flight during Sunday. So far one of the 767 (N120DL) had made two round trips SJU-MIA and so far only 1 of the Ryan flight arrived and departed during daylight. The other ones arrived in night time.

71ZULU...
The other Ryan's flights (mostly MCO and ATL) are more likely TRS flights. For some reason Flight Aware always put them every day but if you compare the hours and departure city with the TRS flight, are very similar. Its been like that for quite a while now.

its probably cheaper than putting them all in hotels for a couple days and booking flights on normal airlines.

No such ship. It is in fact the "Dawn" that is the ship.

Was this when NCL elected to go through a storm to get back to NYC in time to be featured in Donald Trump's Apprentice Season Finale? If not, then I suppose the ship does have bad luck..

Apparently there used to be such a ship; out of service awhile now according to NCL website... I thought there was a new one, but I guess not...

I flew out of SJU yesterday (Sunday 29-Nov) and noticed a Ryan 767 at a gate.
Seems Norwegian chartered the jets to get passengers back on Sunday, or the time the ship was expected in port...yet passengers complained in the media that the charter flights were delayed.

Noticed the terminal did seem busier than normal and I was there about 2:20 local time.
