Long time reader, finally found something worth contributing to post. This LA Times photo essay is an excellent visual comparison of all 4 A380 cabin variants from SQ, EK,AF and QF.

Ahhh. You are correct. I have lower standards for the media than you. I was simply pleased to see they had the right pictures of actual 380s with the corresponding liveries
I dare not dream they would have the actual "facts".

My only 'nitpick' is that I wish they had done a table to compare the seat profiles or even side by side seating charts. Sigh... But I'm happy with what they did!
I like the fact the Los Angeles media seems to be excited by the A380. Perhaps it has something to do with these airlines' marketing budgets?
I do wonder how much of the 'added features' will disapear for more seats in the future (a la 747 piano lounges).

These might actually stay, due to their location.
The AF Gallery, for example, is next to the galley. Would you really want to be seated there? I would think they would need to reposition the galley to the aft of the cabin if they wish to place seats around the staircase (ala SQ's and EK's configurations).
And EK's bar appears to be at the back of Business Class between the aft exit doors, so at best they could only put in a partial row of four seats where the bar is. Might not be worth it.

Nice comparison, we can do better looking at A.net cabin shots and seatmaps though.

The gallery is directly adjacent to the fore staircase, and no operator places seats here AFAIK. There are no windows here. This is the same location where the EK F shower is located. QF puts a small bit of lounge seating and a small self-service bar here.

Could fit 4 more seats here and 2 smallish closets (am assuming more closet space is not needed, but it's too small for anything else). Not worth losing the F/J full-service bar amenity.
I think we'll see an operator have 3-5-3 in Y before F/J amenities are cut back on the more luxurious airlines. Considering main deck width of 6.5-6.58m...it's very doable with 17.something inch seats. Of course the operator who has 3-5-3 in Y probably won't have such luxuries in their premium class in the first place.
