Air France Decreases Canada For Summer 2010

Just loaded on all GDS and AF website

YULCDG goes from 4 flights (1 77W, 1 772, 2 343) to 3 flights (1 77W, 1 744, 1 772).

YYZCDG goes from 744 to A343.

This is not the case. The question is whether AF would rather consolidate frequency, or keep frequency to connect to the breadth of their network via their multi departures bank in CDG.

Was expecting this. Better AF reducing a frequency than KL leaving YUL !

They are currently operating 2 times a day when they were supposed to go 3 times daily. Last I checked a few weeks ago, they will go triple daily in February though.

On a side note, AF and DL will close their Montreal call centers next summer. About 280 people will lose their jobs. Calls will now go through Atlanta, where they will hire french speaking staff.

That would depends on AF yields ex-YUL. If yields are high, AF will want to keep the frequency to preserve the yields., If yields are low, they will consolidate the frequency to reduce cost (and risk some revenue).

Sounds like the yields are fine enough to maintain 3x daily (albeit down from 4), or the dearth of 380's in the fleet does not allow a more efficient 2x daily 380.



Panam, TWA, Ansett, Eastern.......AC next? Might be good for Canada.

Also, there is the fact that AC is opening up a daily YYZ-YUL-BRU next Summer, in cooperation with SN, who is joining Star Alliance at an event in Brussels a week from now.

This will defnitely put pressure on AF and KL's capture of the Canada market ex-BRU.

AC also added GVA and FCO this summer and like you said BRU,ATH and BCN next summer, not that it means much but thats just less traffic that AF or KLM has to funnel through their prospective hubs..

I was not happy to hear this news, as I am booked CDG-YYZ in June, originally on 744, and they e-mailed me yesterday to tell me about the scheduling and equipment change to A343.

I understand the A343 has better IFE, but the 744 is a classic!

AF used to send in their 477 seat 744's to YUL. They are now all in a 436 seating configuration; the 477 seating configuration is gone.

How well did the charters do this summer between France and YUL?

There is a lot of leisure traffic to Canada from France and I just wonder is AF maybe now not try to capture that market so much and leaving it to people like Air Transat?

how good? so good that AirTransit can run scheduled charters to Europe from a city as small as Quebec City

compare that to like 1 single daily DUS-NYC nonstop for a combined population of 32 million from the 2 metropolitans
