With the financial situation with airlines being what it has been and closing of clubs here and there, this is a nice sign in the opposite direction.

Nice looking club. Looks very nice and a good addition to the new terminal at RDU. I've been in the Admirals Club at RDU and I think that is a great club too. Both fit well with the size of each airline's operation out of RDU.
I wish they'd update some of the older-style former Worldclubs and Crown Rooms to that style.
Question - I noticed they have a bartender at RDU. Does NC law forbid the self-serve, since I thought that was the direction DL was headed with the Skyclubs were allowed.
Post-merger, DL is now the largest carrier at RDU, with something like 26% of the traffic. No single carrier dominates RDU these days.

Yeah just another "old school" law this state has. But in this case it works, the idea of having a bartender makes it a little more personal and exclusive IMO. I think in a smaller scale airport like RDU it also works, people tend to have a little bit more time and the pace is much slower. Perhaps in faster pace airports this would not work; people want to have the flexibility to do as they please on their schedule.

It's also the reason you can't find a mini-bar in a hotel room here in the Old North State.

Any news on expanding Sky Clubs (or access) to more locations? Northwest WorldClubs members had access to many other international lounges that Sky Club members can not.

I think the new SkyClub looks good.. but I'm not sure about those green chairs.. something nice like a Carolina Blue with Dark blue accents would have been much nicer! But it is good to have the 3rd lounge open. Now if DL would only return LAX, SLC, and MSY...
I wonder what RDU will do with their RDU Lounge? I wonder if they will have a Carolina, Duke, and State section? Maybe some NCCU, Shaw, St Aug? Hopefully it will be as big and since as the Admirals/Sky Clubs. And I do hope Star Alliance keep a club at RDU. If not US, then maybe a President's Club?

Or since its RDU, one section with red chairs, one section with dark blue chairs, and one section with Carolina Blue chairs, and depending on whether you root for NC State, Duke, or UNC, respectively, that determines where you sit, haha.

Is this in non-hub markets? I've been in SkyClubs in ATL, CVG, MCO, and SLC and they've all had bartenders.

Airlines seem to have no problem painting sports teams on their planes, and those planes fly to cities other than the city that the airplane represents. I can't imagine the US Airways Philadelphia Eagles A319 is too popular in New York. I am a Bengals fan and had to fly on the US Airways Pittsburgh Steelers A319 a couple years ago. But the airport is stationary, and does serve one area, with some of the greatest college basketball teams and one of the best NCAA basketball rivalries (UNC and Duke).

I wish they'd reopen the club in DEN.
That is probably now the largest market without a Skyclub currently.
Club consolidating is beginning. In EWR they recently closed the former Worldclub, which was directly across the hall from the Crown Room.
ORD closed their DL club with the move to NW gates
DCA is closing the NW club when they move in the DL gates
LGA still has the 2 clubs in the same terminal, and likely will for a while, since they are both usually very full.

The former DL Crown Rooms still have bartenders, like the ones you mentioned, they're all legacy DL clubs.
The former NW Worldclubs are self-serve where allowed by law.
They haven't made the switch yet, but eventually some of the DL clubs that still have bartenders will go self-serve (supposedly).
