How much wider is the 320 than the 737 and how does that translate into seat width in the average jampacked airliner?

3 inches.

Which will basically mean that the aisle would be 3 inches wider, an airline probably wouldn't spend more money for newly designed seats just for .2 of an inch of extra space on each one, especially if they operate/did operate the 737.

My 2 cents.

They are 7 inches wider, and on United, the seats and aisle are each an inch wider than on the 737.

The A320 infact has seats wider than the 747 (economy class, don't know about business class).

You are absolutely right. Ansett's A320's had much larger seats than any 747's I've ever been on, thats what really stunned me. Unless Ansett just has bigger seat???
