1) frequencies on flights from TXL to GOT. ARN and OSL increased to twice daily
2) new service TXL-Visby (VBY) once a week (Saturday, presumably on Dash-8Q equipment). AB will be the only non-Nordic airline to serve this airport.
Both effective May 2010. Also. flights to Southern Italy are to be increased.

Really excited to see how this route will work out.

It would be an interesting option for the Dutch, when AB would re-start AMS-TXL v.v. flights again with good connections to the above mentioned cities...always felt sorry when they ceased TXL flights ex AMS some 2 years ago

Quoting MH017 (Reply 5): flights again with good connections
I guess the problem is that TXL is not a good place to connect at. The main building, where AB departs to CGN, FRA, MUC, DUS, ZRH, and TLV does not offer a transfer zone. Instead, all gates have a designated security checkpoint as well as baggage claim. At Terminal C, where AB handles all other flights, there seem to be facilities to handle connceting pax since October when the building was expanded, but I'm not sure about it either. But obviously AB didn't plan TXL as a connecting hub (like MUC, DUS, NUE), but only for O&D-traffic for the Berlin area. They are targeting on one hand on leisure flights, on the other on flights to European cities which otherwise couldn't be reached from Berlin without a change in a major hub airport (and using a different airline).

Great news, although it's now becoming quite crowded between Oslo and Berlin. But hopefully Air Berlin will emerge as the winner as they offer a much better product than Norwegian and Ryanair

Hey, just noticed that Blue1 will launch daily flights HEL-TXL beginning 3 March! How much traffic can this route support? Now, that would mean 5 daily flights (2x each AY, AB, 1xKF).

Quoting Airbuseric (Reply 9): I've heard a rumour that this route will be returning from late March 2010. We'll see if it really happens. They were also very preferred by me
This would be very much welcomed by me as well, what were the departure times some years ago?

Yes 5x daily for HEL-TXL probably is too much, my guess is Blue1 has to step back, they have tried once before already.

Would be useful to know what percentage of connecting pax AB has on those Scandinavian flights. Connections are really good, and AB is certainly building up its network right now in order to be well prepared for the day when Berlin becomes a much better hub option - that is when BBI airport becomes operational. Its position is certainly one of the best in Central Europe for flights to Scandinavia, Russia, the Baltic states and Poland.

They have been on the route before. I used them once 2006ish and the route was even operated by a MD90 and not the smaller Avro.

Quoting Flyboy_se (Reply 1): Great news. I thought ARN was allready twice daily.Or was it only on some days?
More and more airlines keep eating away market from SK
It's not hard to do that with their product.
Next flights: ARN-LHR-IAD on BA 319/VS343 EWR-LHR-ARN on VS346/BA319
