I was wondering why surinam airways is leasing a second airplane? I was at schiphol and saw a airbus a340 from air tahiti nui f-olov, apparently it is flying for slm. Does anybody knows for how long? And why a second a340, mayby because of the christmas holidays? I know that hifly was flying for them with an a340, till the paper work is done. By the way what an unbelievable story about that paper work, how is this possible, it really look amateuristic. Paying the lease of an old 747-300, an recently leased a340 and the hire of two a340's,1 from hifly and 1 from air thahiti nui, it must an expensive and difficult way to make an airline company profitable. At the other hand it is not surprising, must be surinam logic ( it is sarcasm i know but i know what i am saying, i have many surinam friends) It looks like buying a car but you still have get a driverslicence. But i have to say there is one positive side about this, a340's are growing at eham.
Is indeed the nice side of the whole story! The TN A343 is one of the highlights in 2009 for Amsterdam!
Expect them top operate at least till saturday, making 2 return flights...
The Hifly A343 will be ferried to MAD today.
They need additional capacity because of the holiday season coming up. It's a very busy time for travel to and from Surinam. They are looking to obtain a second a343 for themselves as well, so they can increase the AMS-PBM-AMS frequency.
