.......KARACHI : Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) said on Wednesday it would increase domestic airfares by at least 10 percent to cope with rising aviation fuel costs. "Yes, we are considering 10 percent to 15 percent increase in the domestic airfares, but have not yet finalised an implementation date," an airline spokesman told Reuters.

.......The military-led government increased the price of JP-1 (jet fuel) by 1.01 rupees per litre on Monday, translating into an additional 900 million rupees in fuel costs per year for the carrier.
.......The spokesman said the decision to raise domestic fares was taken after the increase in JP-1 fuel prices.
.......He said the increase in JP-1 prices would mean additional costs of 550 million rupees for domestic operations and 350 million rupees for its international services.
.......The airline, which is on the government's privatisation list, suffered a 3.3 billion rupee ($55 million) net loss in 2000 and has total liabilities of 24 billion rupees.-Reuters
