They are also starting CUN-BOG. It looks like they are trying to set up a hub operation in CUN.

Saludos,
Luis

On the CUN - SJU flights:

1. How many flights per week?
2. Do you guys know the schedule?
3. Is this seasonal service?
4. Any plans for MEX nonstop or continued service to MEX?

MX joining Oneworld should help this route...AA can advertise it as a nonstop flight.

better late than never, but they should've started a hub-operation there years ago..

IAD, BOG, and GUA are very nice addtions..... looks like SJU could be a seasonal thing, I looked at the schedules for Feb. it does not show SJU

Yes and no. Maybe more like trying to set up a ''true'' hub. Actually MX considers CUN a secondary hub (something between a hub and a focus city) due to its partnership with Aerocaribe (now MXclick). Remember that idea of decentralized hubs is pretty new to Mexico. Plus, also keep in mind that MX has always been stronger in the south MEX.GDL and CUN while AM tended to be stronger in the north MEX, GDL, MTY, TIJ. Of course, it wasn't cut and dry since Mexican bilaterals were always so strict, so AM ended up flying southern routes like MIA-MID anyway.

Correct. CUN-GUA-CUN would be served by means of its subsidiary Mexicana Link.

I'd think lack of terminal space and a second runway prevented that, but I could be wrong.

Good news! Good luck MX.

There was also noise in the press some weeks ago that AM will launch MEX-IAD. Will be interesting to see what happens.

Next flights: MEX-GRU (AM 77E), GRU-GIG (JJ A320), SDU-CGH (G3 73H), GRU-MEX (JJ A332).

I wonder if they'll launch any western routes from CUN, it seems a much more reasonable point for southeast-northwest connections rather than southeast-northheast connections...

Congrats to MX for launchig this hub operation though. Diversifying their operation away from LCC-invaded Mexico City is a good strategy.
