Yesterday I read in the newspaper that my local airport Paderborn-Lippstadt will be used for UEFA cup finals charter flights. They mentioned 15 extra planes to bring 2500 fans of the Spanish team Alaves to the final in Dortmund on Wednesday, 16th. Does anyone know what time those flight will come to PAD and what carriers will operate them? Will those planes stay there the entire day or do they just drop of the fans, leave and come back later to pick up the fans again? The article did not mention any flights for the Liverpool fans, so I guess they will use another airport, Dortmund or Münster I suppose. Anyone knows for sure? I'll try to be at the airport, unless the flights come in to early (I have my final test at school that morning). Thanks for any help.

I know that Corsair 737s and 747s will be used to carry some Liverpool fans from Manchester airport. I would guess the rest will fly from LIV on MON,AMM,BY etc a/c.

When the UEFA Cup Final (Arsenal - Galatasaray) was in Copenhagen last year some of the planes actually shuttled and flew more than one trip between Copenhagen and London. Some of the UK and most of the Turkish aircraft came in and stayed while others transferred empty to other airports due to shortage of stands for all the aircraft at CPH. E.g. 3 Air Atlanta Icelandic 747s rested in Billund (BLL) for some hours before returning to CPH.

There will also be a Sterling 738 operating as well.
What airport around Dortmund can handle a 747?? I would expect the airport to be Dortmund for the 737's but I dont know about the 747 and other large /c.

The 17 May 2000 - a lovely day at Copenhagen Airport. Sun and many interesting aircraft's coming in for the UEFA-Cup final.
Correct that some of the aircraft's positioned out to other airports due to lack of stands at CPH, but actually the majority of them stayed at CPH for the day. There was only one Air Atlanta 747 (TF-ATC) and it was not one of the aircraft that positioned out to come back later!
It was planned that one of the THY A340's should go to Aarhus, but this never happened - would have been a nice visitor to AAR.

Hi,
A couple of flights from Liverpool will fly to Munster Osnabruck with supporters.
The Spanish supporters will fly to Cologne/Bonn and some British flights as well.

Yes, it is my last Abi test. Thanks for wishing me luck! Anyhow, I can assure you that it was PAD that got the Cathay B744 in September 1997. I was at the airport that day, awesome sight to see such a huge jet at a small airport like PAD. I even have some pictures of that event (unfortunately low quality).

Where do you always get those infos? I admire you because they are always so reliable! Did your "source" mention anything about flights to PAD?

I just got some more definite infos concerning the flights to PAD. A local radio station mentioned 11 airplanes for early Thursday morning. Those will be leaving PAD between 1am and 3:30am. The night flight ban (normally 0:00 till 5:00am) will be lifted for those flights. As of that report, the size of those airplanes will range from 150 to 330 seats, however it did not mention any types or airlines. Anyone knows more? Unfortunately neither the radio station nor the airport could provide me with infos concerning the arrival of those flights. I also checked the videotext and so far it also does not display any flights from Victoria until 10am. Gotta check that once again tomorrow morning.
For FMO, the videotext showed 4 MON and 1 AMM flight until 10am tomorrow morning, I'll try to keep you updated!

There were indeed 13 flights Paderborn-Vitoria between 0110 and 0320, plus two more at 0600 and 0930 respectively.
Of those 15 flights, 7 were UX, 4 FH, 2 LK, 1 YP and 1 CRL.
If anyone could tell me what LK and CRL are, I´d be delighted.

OK, sorry, I just read Rizzibird´s other post. LK seems to be Air Luxor, CRL Corsair. Why don´t them idiots at PAD´s departure boards don´t use Corsair´s two-letter code "SS" which everybody understands...
Daniel
P.S.: I don´t know anything about DTM, because they´re not in the videotext, Rizzibird - perhaps we should write a joint petition to the WDR, huh?
