In another thread booking data was posted. The loads were very good to great through the first week of January, after that they tapered off considerably.

The majority of flights between Brazil and the USA in the next four weeks is booked up. If there was an airline flying between say Cleveland and Cuiaba', their flights would be nearly full. US will rack up good revenue in the beginning.

Looks good and better than many here expected. Many Flights are 100% booked and their advance bookings is building up. The only point is that, their business class (envoy) is too little. GIG during off season sells better C than Y and the 762 in my view, is good for January/February/June/July, not so good for off-season where a premium plane is more welcome.

I dont expect US to make a lot of money in this route!!!remember that from december to february is peak travel to brazil!!!!after that travel demand go down and thas went i think US airways is going to suffer alot because they would have to compete with DL,UA,CO,AA,JJ which have better productivity then US.good luck

It'll be nice for the short while it lasts.

Though I'm surprised it even launched, I didn't think it would happen, so I was wrong on that. Congrats to US Airways on doing with GIG what they could never do with Beijing.

Its not going to be a smashing success, but GIG has more potential for US than GRU would. They can compete much more for low-yield American leisure travelers than for business travelers or Brazilians of any type.

That's the peak leisure, but during the off peak loads are not on the 90's but will be around 70-85%, with more buiness and less leisure, but still, GIG has space for more flights from the United States.

It will be a successful operation, not so big as IAH-GIG become, but US will obtain a good profit. Of course a 762 is an expensive plane to fly, with high costs.

I told you that there's space for more US-GIG service. In my view right now there's plenty of space for more 2 daily flights.

Unless their load factor is 100%, the 762 is the cheapest and most profitable aircraft they could use.

Arguably, it is in a good location with a good network to feed it. Maybe Delta has a better one, but the trip to Boston is shorter through Charlotte, by over 250 miles each direction.

For another example, say you are in STL. Connecting in Houston will be 400+ miles further in each direction compared to a Charlotte connection.

Well, for the future, they could use a larger plane during December and January at least.

25 Brandonfsu05 : Thanks for sharing...when it gets back tomorrow at 6am it goes to Honolulu at 9 AM I guess. Another inaugural ceremony tomorrow.
26 C010T3 : Yes, terminal 2, they share with Webjet the space previously occupied by VARIG. I thought that they would use part of LH's old space, since the State
27 LipeGIG : Thanks. I tried to check on Sunday while boarding back to JFK if TAM will be taking care of the Envoy passengers on their lounge. May be next week wi
28 TheGMan : how about that. I rode on 256AY from CLT-MCO earlier this year.
29 C010T3 : I don't think so. They will most probably use the Smiles lounge like UA and TP.
30 LipeGIG : And that's an interesting situation. UA and TP are JJ partners ! This thursday flights: CLT-GIG seems 97% full (16/18C) GIG-CLT business full (no sur
31 C010T3 : Yes, but JJ's lounge is too small for everybody.
32 OP3000 : Is the JJ lounge the best at GIG? How does it compare to the GRU JJ lounge?
33 LipeGIG : Both lounges are very similar. The GRU one is a little bigger, but much more crowded. During the night i know many people that avoid JJ lounge becaus
34 Maverick623 : Now now, don't forget MBJ-PHX, which starts tomorrow. Looks like I may even get to work that flight (PHX-MBJ will start on Friday)
35 ULMFlyer : I thought I might try this flight (PIT-CLT-GIG) in the near future if it was priced significantly below CO's, since I can now accrue OnePass miles on
36 LipeGIG : US knows the market demands more capacity and they are trying to just price their flights the same as other airlines. There was not a big need for di
37 Jfk777 : Well Usairways is well known across the Pond, and now they have discovered Latin America's biggest country, so what is next ? Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo
38 KL911 : A bit off topic, but why is it that only US carriers have very old cabin crew? I flew NW, UA and US TA and it was a shock. I love to have young , pret
39 Brandonfsu05 : because they we all hired in the 1950s??? 1960s?? okay okay 1970s and 1980s? Lol...and have contracts and unions lol. To fire them for being old woul
40 AF086 : I guess the natural next step for US is to expand their deep South American network adding large markets like EZE, SCL and GRU to their network.
41 KL911 : True, but in the EU carriers have FA's that after a few years of flying become checkin or gate agents with a fixed schedule, to see their kids/husban
42 OA412 : IMHO it comes down to the fact that they had no other choice. They have the aircraft to fly it so no excuse there and they knew that unlike their Chi
43 Brandonfsu05 : Yea you're right...the FA from lufthansa mentioned that too...That's probably why there is more incentive to move on when you're older. For example..
44 ULMFlyer : It seems to be a nice product indeed. But assuming you're referring to loads, isn't that also a consequence of them having only 18 seats in J? I don'
45 Brandonfsu05 : They're not old and grumpy to everyone...I think it's best to fly in the US when you are between the ages of 4-7 and are a cute and well-mannered kid
46 TheGMan : So, it turns out you need to have a visa to go to Brazil. Looks like I won't be non-reving this flight this weekend.
47 OP3000 : I have a feeling a lot of US' revving passengers will encounter this small obstacle too, especially in the spring when they start running sales.
48 Cubsrule : Slightly off topic, but have the embassy and consulates in the States gotten any better about turning visas around? Four or five years ago, it often
49 AF086 : According to the brazilian embassy in Washington the visa processing time is up to 10 business days.
50 Brandonfsu05 : yes I got my visa from the consulate in atlanta it took a couple of days. I'm sure it probably takes up to 10 days in a bigger consulate like Miami..
51 OP3000 : If you go in person its a couple of days, unless you are leaving in that span a time they will expedite it to next-day service (for a slight extra fe
52 LipeGIG : Now will be 10-year visa. Exactly. 18 seats on business reminds me of holiday operators.
