This was pretty much predicted.

Routes: to FUE from BOH; CRL; DUB; NRN; HHN; PIK; LPL; MAD; BDY; and PSA. These are already in its pull-down menu. Likewise:

BOH-IBZ, -MLA, -VLC
BHX-IBZ
STN-TPS (LTN-TPS, an existing route, will be 3x weekly and STN-TPS 7x weekly)
BGY and HHN to ILD – Lleida, Spain - a new airport for FR.

FR will operate 61 routes to the Canary Islands: 10 to FUE; 18 to LPA; 16 to ACE; and 17 to TFS.

Adding ILD, FR will serve 22 Spanish destinations (including those in the Canary and Balearic Islands). And it has 5 Spanish bases.

FR now has 15 routes to IBZ and 13 to MLA. VLC, a former base, now has 17 routes.

BDY

Note that this should have been BGY.

Don't make me laugh, will you object to Acelanzarote's statement: Lleida (Lérida), Spain?

Glad to see some more routes at Bournemouth, hopefully a second aircraft might be based there for the summer. Must be one of the few bases with only 1 aircraft?

Why did FR leave FUE?

According to FR, the local tourism group AIE didn't honor the commercial agreement they made: http://ryanair.com/en/news/rte-en-101208

It seems like they have sorted out their issues.

This was announced yesterday: http://ryanair.com/en/news/rte-en-181209

Also announced yesterday, a 5th aircraft for PIK. Only one new route (FUE), and many frequency increasements following GSM's collapse.

Quote:
Ryanair, the world’s favourite airline, today (18th Dec) announced that it will add one new Boeing 737-800 aircraft (2 in total) and open four new routes (16 in total) from its Bournemouth base to Fuerteventura, Ibiza, Malta and Valencia from late March 2010

Other 1-aircraft bases are ORK, BHD, KIR and BDS.

ILD – Lleida, Spain - a new airport for FR.

The airport isn't even operational yet. Also Vueling is said to open a route to Paris from ILD: http://www.barcelonareporter.com/ind...nuary._one_of_the_airlines_to_fly/

What is the market for ILD? Is it a tourist destination, or is it more a route for the people living in the area?

Uh? I was only saying that ILD is not only a new airport for FR, but a totally new airport. It will open in mid January. Does this make you laugh?

I think it was a joke on the nitpickyness of your comment. SAT (for those in North America who are familiar with the test) correlation section -

new airport is to FR as Lleida is to Lérida.

Well gossiping minds want to know, which is it?  Wink

We are joking of course!  Wink

Maybe, but I think he was after something else. Maybe he believed I objected to "Lleida, Spain".

i think you meant 6th aircraft, PIK has had 5 based here for years

the 6th aircraft enables the following at PIK:

TFS goes to 6x weekly (from 3x weekly)
FUE 2x weekly (previously not operated)
ALC goes to 5x weekly (from 4x weekly)
AGP goes to 6x weekly (from 3x weekly)
FAO goes to 5x weekly (from 2x weekly)
PMI goes to 6x weekly (from 1x weekly)
IBZ goes to 3x weekly (previously planned to be 2x weekly)
MJV goes to 5x weekly (from 2x weekly)

Next Flights:- wherever the airline sends me

Well, quite a few ski destinations in the Pyrenees are within a short drive, I guess that's what FR is targeting. Other than that I don't see a big local market - Lerida is not that big and the region is sparsely populated.

You can see the airport under construction here:

but I guess there's no need to subject the rest of A.net to this pointless (yes!) discussion...
