So far, news media reports that Delta has canceled all flights into Washington for Saturday.

Other airlines of course have waived change fees and whatnot as a massive snowstorm wallops up the east coast.

Few Snow showers are predicted in EWR starting about 9am with a 30% chance and 14 MPH winds. By 4pm predicting Snow 70% with 17 MPH winds. Heavy snow around midnight, predicted to be over by noon Sunday, but windy. Best of luck.
We may be on CO SAN-EWR redeye tonight, connecting on either a 0615 or 1000 flight. Not sure if we're going to try it or get bumped as NRs.

Thanks so much. Same to you. I'm calling United right now to see what the deal is. The website advisory is pretty vague.

since NW dispatchers sit in the same huge room in ATL w/ DL dispatchers now, it's pretty likely the same course of action will be taken.

We are usually the last to cancel. However, a lot of our flights our casualties in and out of BWI for Saturday. It's a wait and see exercise. What makes this so challenging is the fact that this snow event is a week before Christmas. We are now pushing out our last turn a delayed BWI-BOS FL flight 457 which ironically was not weather related. And, we still have one more flight to come in from Hotlanta. Of course we are probably on the diversion bubble as there are two flights FL ATL to DCA and whenever there's weather in "murder city" (DC) they have curfew issues and approach issues so guess what they visit us at BWI. And slightly off subject a lot of passengers have brought their "beauty queen" mentality; Where is my flight leaving from?
What time is it leaving? Where is it going?
Of course myself and my colleagues have repeatedly made update announcements and my voice carries like a bullhorn. (LOL)
For whatever reason passengers traveling on Thanksgiving are upbeat on-time and knowledgeable whereas the Christmas New Years folks do smart things like be late for their original oversold flights and expect to fly right out at the drop of a snowflake. Ah you gotta love our industry.  banghead

Um like where is my flight to Orlando going?

This might be the worst time to have a Nor'easter. The flights were mostly packed anyway with the holiday crowd. Recovery options are going to be tough.

I work for Air Canada (reservations). Today I had this total idiot who found out that his connection into DCA tomorrow was cancelled. He was flying from Europe, connecting thru Canada. He claimed that he had just read the weather reports and Washington wasnt that bad. Wanted to know why we had cancelled. When I started reading the front page info from Weather.com, explaining that this was a MAJOR snowstorm, he then told me he didnt call me to get a weather report. (??????). When I offered an alternate flight to PHL or NYC, he demanded to know why those flights werent cancelled, although they are only "a hundred miles away". I offered to rebook him for Sunday, but he decided to travel tomorrow (Sat) into EWR, because "the weather won't be so bad". Sometimes I can't win for losing.

Both DCA and IAD have 1/4 mile vis in their forecasts for most of the day tommorrow. That means that nobody who is a Cat 1 operator will be able to get in at all, and with all the snow, its likely going to stop things. US has cancelled all the RON's for DCA already, and it looks like it will be a ghost town there tommorrow.

121 BMI727 : I just checked and the Bears made it. As a Bears fan I have to say I'm a bit disappointed. They might be better off not playing.
122 RFields5421 : It is largely which airlines put their aircraft in line for deicing. Most did not bother. Why dispatch the aircraft when the rested crew may not be a

131 LHR380 : I 100% agree with AirNZ, its not the fault of an airline if the ground transport systems are not fully working at the airport. LHR sort of stayed ope
132 Tonytifao : I think passengers flying to Brazil this time of the year will be the hardest hit. Flights are pretty much sold out. Hope all make home
133 9V-SPJ : DL has canceled almost everything on Sunday as well. Was booked on DL161 to SFO and they told me to wait it out and see what would open up. No idea ho
134 Airbazar : It was a very localized storm. Snow didn't even start falling in Boston until very late at night, well after the TATL arrivals for BOS. I think some
135 RFields5421 : The same thing with pretty much the same impact is happening in Europe today.
136 RobertS975 : If the inbound operated in the first pl;ace, then it would have provided an aircrfat for the IAD departure! Most flights canceled the inbounds, thus
137 SEVENHEAVY : Its still a valid point. "dumping" passengers into a fully functioning airport is one thing. Doing the same when the airport's transportation links a

142 STT757 : CO has some interesting flights into EWR this morning, A 737-800 from BWI, and three flights from MCO that departed MCO within minutes of each other (
143 Soxfan : Thanks for the clarification. I know airlines use "weather" as a common excuse for not providing passengers with compensation for delays, but if a pl
144 Flyfree727 : Apparently Air Canada doesn't view this as a common winter weather pattern, as they have issued the following press release. I guess they are anticip
145 Sevenheavy : Anything weather related can be written off to a certain extent as an "act of god" (this is based on EU regulations, the U.S. may be different, altho
146 Panova98 : Can't wait 'till winter's over! Oh, it hasn't started yet? Tomorrow? Did I really hear there's an ice storm due in the DC area around Christmas eve? A
147 Readytotaxi : Hey, tomorrow is the "shortest day", hence fewer cancellations. Have a friend on CO18 just now, EWR-LHR, 2 hour delay, now arriving into London shortl

153 RFields5421 : Did the aircraft every get out of Newark last night and back to Toronto? It looks like Colgan 3455 is flying today, so Colgan 3453 should be okay tomo
154 9V-SPJ : What I don't understand is why DL has canceled most domestic arrivals into JFK today (Sunday). All flights from the West Coast should have been able t
155 RFields5421 : Maybe - it was still snowing in New York this morning. Which means long delays in departure lines. Difficult for passengers getting to the airport. Th
156 JBAirwaysFan : Funny you mention that. All of DL's LGA-MCO flights were cancelled yesterday (my grandmother was scheduled on DL1487 LGA-MCO for December 19. I found
157 D L X : So, I saw planes (every now and then) landing at National today. The big question I have is, how did the passengers get to the airport or get out of t
158 EwRkId : Maybe there were people that were stranded and were not fortunate to get out of the airport.... or able to get a hotel room
159 Ocracoke : This weather has nothing to do with 'common winter weather patterns' migrating south. Having lived in the costal plains of Virginia for over 30 years
160 9V-SPJ : I think they had to operate LGA-ATL to try and get some people out to the ATL hub where they could make further connections. DL canceled ALL JFK-SFO
161 RJpieces : The international bank departed JFK that night between midnight and 6AM local!
162 KITH : Was in PHL trying to go PBI-PHL-ITH, that didn't happen, got a seat on US 3446 PHL-SYR, rolling delay of two hours before canceling at 9pm. Drove the
163 EwRkId : Someone told me that UA was asking extra agents to fly to IAD to work from Sun-wed and meals and hotel will be taken care off......Sounds good accept
164 Flyfree727 : AA has done this in the past. Once after a hurricane did severve damage in the MCO area, AA flew agents up from MIA so that MCO agents could take car
