Wow! Just great news. MIA will be connected to FRA, MUC, DUS and ZRH! Looks like it operates the days that MIA DUS, which has been extended through May, does not.

wow, very great news for LH and MIA. LH is starting to be a big player in Florida. I wonder if the ZRH-MIA traffic will be affected or is LH tapping into Italy for the pax on these flights.

Zanair flight, please hold on finals as we have to clear rhino's off the runway. Next flight KUL-FRA-AMS Flown in A319,A

I would hardly believe they are trying to affect MIA-ZRH pax as the flight is operated by the same company (at least virtually);

Where aviation is not the side show, it's the main show!!!

I would love to see LH fly MXP-MIA once it gets AOC on the days AZ isn't flying to top the LH MIA invasion.

....and because Miami was super good this year, wouldn't it be great if Santa gave it BRU-MIA on SN!

That would complete the German take over of MIA. Vee haf hour vays yu no!  Smile

AZ doesn't fly MXP-MIA, but has requested slots to operate it 3xw from the SS2010 (closing MXP-GRU).

Are they going to change the FRA to MIA times since they are almost identical ?

I doubt it, the early departue will stay as it's a long flight and gets you there pretty much on time. Maybe they also have a contract to ship passangers for cruise ships ex MIA so an early arrival would benefit that as well

Finally! In fact, it's a re-launch. Until a few years ago, it was a winter-only route (LH and then LT/AB dropped MUC-MIA). Interesting to see it being flown in the summer now. The same goes for the chioce of aircraft, it used to be an A343 in the past. Hats off to airbus for making the A330 ever more capable!

The timing is really surprising since MIA is considered a winter destination from Germany.

I'm not surprised by this route, and suspect the Star JV will add some more service from Florida to Europe in due course. The forced reordering of TATL traffic flows begins - less need to send Florida pax through congested hubs in EWR/IAD when the traffic has now grown to a point where direct flying to the European hubs is now an option.

Live life to the fullest.

Germany-Miami double peaks both in the winter and the summer. Air Berlin flew MIA-MUC summer-only, for example.

But don't forget the market goes two ways. Miami --> Europe is busiest in the summer; as is connections from Europe to VFR markets in Central and South America.

There has been. UX to MAD in March and going year-round to TFN; Corsair to ORY in June; Alitalia to MXP in June as well; LH extends DUS "winter" service through the end of May; now LH to MUC. And there's still one more announcement to look out for...

What I would not give for an LH flight to TPA. Right now having to connect to get anywhere is such a pain. Not that we could support it.

I remember those clearly. Weren't they in a modified version of the "Star Alliance" livery?

Great news for MIA, which is going to be better connected than ever to Europe.

Indeed, this summer we are looking to have:

Dusseldorf
Frankfurt
London-Heathrow
Paris-CDG
Paris-Orly
Madrid
Milan
Munich
Rome
Tenerife-North
Zurich

And there's more. I'm told airBerlin is strongly considering MIA-TXL for 2010, and hopefully we'll finally get DL/KL to Amsterdam; plus El Al plans to return once the FAA category II restriction is lifted.

What an odd schedule for Lufthansa.

The question is, what is being sacrified for this? There are 4 A333s based in MUC, each of them doing IAD/YUL/BOM and JFK DAILY.

Mon/Tue - no weekend days?

I'm sure AB will launch TXL-MIA at least twice weekly during 2010.

MIA-DUS operates WeFrSaSu. So its a daily flight to Frankfurt and the second daily frequency split between DUS/MUC.

DUS ends May 24th and returns in October, but I wonder if DUS is going to stick around for summer? MIA-DUS has performed very well; can't say the same for YYZ-DUS.

Not sure about aircraft allocation. BOM is xTuSa right now. Maybe BOM will be changed around?

It was rumored that the three A340-300 aircraft based at DUS right now are to be replaced by three A330-300 from the MUC hub. Any connection with this announcement or news on that?

I realize that.

MP suspended Miami-Amsterdam in September and talk has been that DL/KL will be replacing them shortly, but nothing official has surfaced.
