United's daily DCA-DEN flight departed DCA at 8:30 AM today instead of its usual ~5:30 PM departure. Any reason for the change?
One thought that crossed my mind was to cater to the Senate, which voted this morning on the health care bill before adjourning for the holiday. Would United switch a flight for that reason?

I'm guessing a lot of it is the traffic patterns today. Christmas Eve morning tends to be pretty busy, but traffic tends to drop off in the afternoon as people have Christmas Eve activities at their destinations. Moving the flight to the morning caters to people getting out of town (people living in DC), while normally the flight caters to people in town for business and working a full day and then going back out west.
