Does anyone know when the 2 additional 777-200LR are scheduled to be delievered to DL? Last I know was 1Q10.. Are the rumors true that DL is going to sub-lease them to another carrier?

When is the 777-200ER Business modification to start, is it still scheduled to start in the 1Q10 as well or has it been delayed?

Thanks for any information in advance..

I don't know about the delivery dates, I believe your data is correct.

They will not be subleased... the latest pilot equipment bid accounts for them in staffing.

Q2/3 IIRC. No Delta will not be sub leasing these. they will be back fill for the ERs while the C mods.

I think that they are also used on JFK-NRT, but I could be wrong.

777 routes(S10).
ATL-TLV daily ER
ATL-DXB daily LR
ATL-NRT 10x weekly LR
ATL-JNB daily LR
ATL-FRA daily ER
DTW-PVG daily ER
DTW-ICN 5x weekly ER
DTW-HKG 5x weekly ER
LAX-NRT 4x weekly LR

You are correct. The 777 is/will be used on this route until Jun/2010. Then replaced with the 744.

Awesome news! Delta hasn't been sending Boeing 777s to FRA for years. Great to see them back. I was planning on flying to the US in summer 2010, and it looks like I am going to take DL15 FRA-ATL in August which already shows the Triple 7 as equipment. Thanks for the heads-up, wouldn't have noticed that otherwise.

DTW-HKG WILL be using the 777-200LR, but not everyday. The schedules currently almost seem to alternate days on whether the ER or LR are being utilized. I have yet to decipher a method to the madness of the aircraft scheduling on this route.

yea if i had to bet i'm going to say it will end up on the LR.

Thats what one would think but the people running the airlines don't look at it the same way.

DTW-HKG is 7857 miles per GCM... just 58 miles more than BOM-JFK that DL used to operate with the ER.

Guess DTW-HKG can be done with the ER

Not necessarily. CO uses the 772ER EWR-HKG and CX uses the 773ER JFK-HKG and YYZ-HKG. EWR-HKG and JFK-HKG are further than DTW-HKG, and YYZ-HKG is only a few miles shorter.

DTW-HKG 6828 nm
EWR-HKG 7009 nm
JFK-HKG 7014 nm
YYZ-HKG 6787 nm

Why is DL using a LR on such a short route? Lots of cargo?

Yes, during last summer DL 777s flew the route MAD-JFK. Actually the 777 flew JFK-NRT-JFK-MAD-JFK.

For next summer the B767-400 is scheduled for the MAD-JFK route (during the winter it's a 763), and the JFK-NRT route will be operated with NW 747-400.

It is possible to use an ER on that route, but that distance is long enough that the airline would realize some advantages by using an LR variant. They probably do not have one available for that route so it gets an ER.

Hasn't DL been sending a 777 to LIM lately? What's up with that?

25 Transpac787 : It rotates with the SYD flight that uses an LR. No need for the model on a route of that distance or anything, just simpler rotations for the SYD bir
26 Cesarv777 : Believe it's a 767. Hope I'm not wrong, it's my first post!!!!
27 Ssublyme : DL did switch to a 777 either in June/July of this year. Primarily because of inadequacy for that route.
28 MCOAviationFan : LOS was originally flown with a 767 but is currently flown with a 777ER.
29 DLATL777 : This (LAX-ATL-LAX) will actually stop in June when Delta will begin a LAX-SYD-LAX-NRT-LAX turn of the 777-200LR equipment instead of having the LR he
30 Packcheer : Will the SYD and NRT aircraft then be "Stuck" on the west coast, or will they use NRT to rotate planes back to JFK/DTW/ATL in whatever pattern needed?
31 Timf : I'm sure they will use the NRT-ATL route to rotate them throughout the system.
32 AT : can the same pilots fly the 77ERs and 777LRs? Are the cockpits any different?
33 ElpinDAB : DTW to PVG has used the LR since it was created. Will this change to the ER too, or will it alternate?
34 Transpac787 : As a reply after you said, a full rotation would be SYD-LAX-NRT-ATL and reverse. Yes. Very few. Most differences are performance-related. Different M
35 OA412 : I'm sure cargo is big on the route but, IMHO, the LR is being used as it gives them an opportunity to offer a flat-bed business class in the market.

38 Aviationbuff08 : According to Delta.com 04/07/2010 DL 14 ATL-FRA switches to a 777. I admit, TATL to Europe would be one of the last routes that I'd expect to see a D
39 Aviationbuff08 : Basically for the large capacity for passengers and cargo. I know the route currently has a 744 because I saw it boarding when I was in LA a few week
