A little early, but I am curious to hear thoughts on this. I LOVE United's new livery, but am not crazy about the winglets on the 747 and the 757s that have them.

I don't like the stripes. I think it would look a lot nicer if they put United's classic blue-and-red striped logo on the winglets.

I know it is early to think of this, but I hope United will put the classic logo on the A-350 winglets when they are delivered.

This of course is assuming that UA will be around then. If they get subject to a hostile takeover by US, the planes could be in US livery. If CO pursues a hostile takeover, the A350s will likely not be taken delivery of as the entity would favor the 787s.

The current livery United have on winglets may actually work well with the A350 winglet design, they curve up and sweep backwards so the stripes would look good if altered slightly to match that shape.

I gree with the OP that the "U" would look better on the winglets than the stripes.
Always wished AS would have put "Chester" on their 737 winglets instead of stripes too. I swear I saw a photo years ago of their CEO holding a 1/100th scale model and the winglets had the same logo as the tail - maybe I was just dreaming though

I hope this is a joke. I mean really what make you think that anything you have said will happen.

As I recall, UA walked away from the last merger talks, not the other way around.

Clearly United thought that the A350 and 787 performed different missions, and were both the best aircraft in their respective fields. Many airlines have ordered the 787 and the A-350.

It happens sometimes!  Smile I remember Virgin Atlantic had nice winglets, but it seems like most American carriers do not.

I actually quite like the stripes, the tulip would look unusual on the winglets IMO, especially on the 757.

checkmark  Look at Delta's winglets. It's just a solid blue. Very boring.

I think Hawaiian Airlines winglets on their 767 is awesome though. One of the best out there IMO.

I love this kind of post because reveals how people handle information and how they change facts just to favor their preferred manufacturer. Out of nothing you just make a nonsense statetment. Great!

It just wouldn't work with the livery. But the same logo that they have on the tail would look good.

If you look at the stripes on the United winglets, you will see that the stripes are matched with the stripes on the fuselage. I suppose that it was intended to create the effect of the winglets blending into the fuselage when looking at the airplane horizontally.

In any case, I think that while the liver is sharp, there is too much white on an airplane that big.

And yes, I like to say airplane, not aircraft. To me saying aircraft seems to be a "know it all" word. I have been calling them airplanes since I was a kid. No need to change.

It's 737s, 747s and 380s. Not 737's, 747's and 380's. Learn to use the apostrophe for crying out loud.

Its called the "Tulip" and I also think it would look good on the winglets. The blue and red would look interesting, but I think the blue and white would be better. If you look online you can find pics where people have put the winglets on United planes and used the "tulip" instead of the stripes. Looks really good.  wave

I completely agree with you! They look fantastic, and fit perfectly with the rest of the livery!
