Hello all
I'm hoping that someone can solve a mystery for me. Right next to the Bahrain International Circuit (where they hold the F1 race) on Google Maps there appears to be half a runway. The rest of it disappears in a rather ghostly way as it sits on the edge of two maps, one old, one new. The map reference is:

It is probably a new construction related to the GP circuit.
The GE tile with the race circuit is dated June 8, 2006. The tile with the runway end and apron is dated Aug 29, 2009.
Edit - Bing Maps shows a runway (18/36) in that location prior to construction of the race course. However it does not have the aprons, etc visible in the new Google Earth
Edit #2 - Everything I can find says there are only two airports in Bahrain - OBBI & OBBS - except the CIA World Fact book which says there are three operational airports in Bahrain - two with paved runways over 3,047M and one with a paved runway between 2,483M-3,047M.

The third runway is the Sheikh Isa airbase at the bottom of the Island.
Sakir Airbase (next to the F1 GP track) is being upgraded to full ICAO standards initially for the Bahrain Int'l Airshow but may house the Royal Flight longer term.
