Are there any defunct (or about to go defunct) airlines you have flown and/or respected which you still wish was with us?
For me, a sad loss was British Caledonian. "BCal" was a fantastic airline which died a premature death, not from deregulation but over-regulation. Would BA be a different airline now had BCal taken over instead? After all, weren't the "Caledonian girls" just the greatest?

No surprises from me-
1. Braniff International. They were really good, had style.
2. Legend. Ditto. And their traffic was ramping up nicely. A different capital market would have them flying high now.
3. Air Cal. Good folks, good service, it took typical AA arrogance to completely destroy a well-entrenched west coast network in a matter of months.
4. PSA- See No. 3 above, and substitute "USAir" for "AA," and "incompetence" for "arrogance."
There are others whose people and service I liked- the original Frontier, Muse Air, Pan Am.

Pan Am (ver 1.0) the most influential airline in the history of aviation
Braniff (ver 1.0) creativity maximus!
MGM Grand One word "Luxury"
Air Atlanta Proving the small guys can do it better
Legend killed by "AA" AKA Anti Christ Air
Florida Express without a doubt the most attractive single FAs in the business

I'm with Vw, I miss AccessAir as well. In their second attempt at operating, you could fly between Des Moines and Chicago real cheap. Last April I had to take Greyhound because, even with a one-week advance purchase, it would have cost me more to fly from CHI-DSM than it it cost me to fly VS LHR-ORD!!

Hey all,
I miss a lot of different airlines like Pan Am, Braniff, CP Air, etc, but I would have to say that the one I miss most is Eastern Airlines. I loved their bare metal scheme with the blue "hockey stick" cheatline.
