If Qantas spelled their own name right in the first place, none of this would be happening  Big grin

Actually, the word is spelt

Spelt is used in this way in the past tense, as the event has already occurred. Hence, QANTAS spelt wrong again

However, it can be argued that spelled is also correct. Any sentence in which you use spelled, you can also spell it spelt, because spelt has a meaning in both the past and present tenses.

So both ways are correct in English.

But seeing as this is airliners.net and not http://www.lets-learn-different-ways-to-use-the-English-language.net I will just let it slide on this occasion.

Haha, Aviatsiya, I understand.

I apologize, we don't use too many "uncommon" words up here in Joisey, so I guess we are not as well-versed in the English language as people in some parts of the world.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

If this is all we have to talk about, it is further proof that we need some more juicy airline news to chew on. I think we are all becoming very bored here.

Just a joke, even though I have been on a couple of QF flights where service was similar to this level.

The correct English spelling is aeroplane. Airplane seems to be used predominately in the US, but then they don't speak proper English do they?.....

It's so very unfortunate, but as you get older (such as myself)you all will realize that person or persons such as the one who did not spell the airline name in question correctly have no clue nor do they care about an airline, its history or anything else pertaining to it. They are only after a job and a paycheck whether it be from BA, Quantas, Qantas, or dealing Happy Meals at McDonalds it just doesn't matter to them. If it did matter perhaps the people at BA would have seen and corrected this by now. This is only my opinion from someone in the airline industry for a while.

Aeroplane is the correct term in the English language.
I think they made that mistake because in english u put a "U" after a "Q"..i.e. Queen, Quere, Quilt, etc.

Big deal

25 Post contains images EGGD : Tim, i made a terrible mistake i'm sorry and i also believe its Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services Limited. So it really should be QANT
26 Post contains images AJ : It's Qantas Airways Limited, even longer! Can't be QAL though, because that title was held by Queensland Air Lines, this dosn't bother the ASX however
27 Fanofjets : ...And to think that all these years I've been spelling it "Kwontass"!
28 QantasAirways : How stupid of BA Qantas doesn't spell British Airways like Britishe Air They probably think that Qantas spelt their site wrong! Regards QantasAirways
