Werent the CRJ200 & 700 called the CRJ50 & 70 before? why did Bombardier change them? are there any plans to introduce a smaller 25-35 seat version of the aircraft to compete against the very successful FairchildDornier 328jet Confused

Actual nomenclature is the CL-65

CRJ 100 and 200 are the CRJ-50's you're thinking of

The CL-600 designation originates from the Challenger Businessjets...

I have heard CRJ100/200s refered to as CL-65s too...
