What Is The Reg# Of The CX's A340 From Air China?

The easiest way to tell these 3 apart from the rest of Cathay's 340's is the one blanked-off window in the middle of the section between the first and second doors. Also, since their cabins are configured differently, they are pretty much restricted to flights within Asia.

These three aircraft will be going to China Sowthwest and not back to Air China. Lets hope they paint them in Hong Kong !!

I believe that these 3 aircraft do not have in flight rest areas for the crew (The cockpit crew anyway) so they will not be out onto long-haul flights by cathay. Go to KUL. BIN, BKK and places like that and you will see them. They have to PTVs either, so get many complaints from PAX, therefore CX limit them to short flights.

What are China Southwest doing with their A340s? What international or longhaul routes do they have?

I have been on Cathay's leased A340's and I can tell you the pax on the plane was not happy, these planes did not have PTV's (we were flying from KUL-HKG)! They were not happy because they gave out newspapers (hong kong's "South China Morning Post") and on the front page there was a Cathay Pacific advert with a picture of a man having his meal infront of a PTV. the add said "Your own personal TV in every class, in every seat, on every plane" Smile

that's really ironic, isn't it?! CX should get rid of those A340s asap and replace them by SQ's. When will SQ's 340 join the fleet?

btw, I also doubt what China SW is gonna do with the A340s.

Flew on one CLK-TPE. Those A340s are like sardine cans. Far less room in them it seemed to me than in their long haul A340s. And correct, no PTVs.

Horrible interior, no PTV's. I got stranded on the ground in one of them for 1 hour 45 minutes due to flap problems!

The first SQ A340 is due to arrive in Hong Kong next month. Remember China Southwest will now have 6 A340's !!
