US Airways STT-CLT 15 Sick Onboard

Posted (4 years 8 months 6 days 2 hours ago) and read 3600 times:

Associated Press reporting that a flight from St. Thomas in the USVI to Charlotte today on US Airways landed with 7 crew and 8 passengers sick. The 7 crew members were taken to the hospital and the passengers were treated and then boarded other connecting flights. Article says the crew smelt an oder after take off and notified authorities in Charlotte. Link below.

I'm wondering why if the crew felt the oder was important enough to notify "authorities" in CLT, why wasn't the flight diverted or stronger action taken. Anyone have any further information at all on the news?
