Surprised this hasn't been posted already, from Flyertalk and Airlineroute:

The following routes are currently planned to be served by Airbus A380-800, replacing 777-300ER:
eff 01JUL10 Dubai – London Heathrow EK003/004 (Previously planned Daily A380 in W09 but postponed)
eff 01AUG10 Dubai – Beijing EK306/307
eff 01SEP10 Dubai – Manchester EK017/018, First Class offered
eff 31OCT10 Dubai – New York JFK EK201/202, this marks the return of A380 service to JFK
eff 01JAN11 Dubai – Shanghai EK302/303

I'm guessing this is all an addition to YYZ, ICN, SYD, AKL, BKK, CDG, JED

after JED a suprise to me too, I would have expected FRA, CDG or NRT before MAN, but in longterm with around 50 aircrafts on order every destination will more or less see the A380 in their life  Smile

Great news for MAN!

I wonder if we will see EK move forward on its plans for two class A380s, for shorter routes?

As far as I understand it, the route has high loads on only on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Yep soon we wil have A380s to DAC, SEZ, DEL, COK, HYD, BLR, etc etc so it is just a matter of time.

Great to see the A380 back on the JFK-DXB run! No surprise to see the A380 serving the two major (mainland) Chinese gateways either. MAN and a 2nd daily to LHR also make sense given the close ties between the UK and the UAE. I wonder which cities could be next? FRA, FCO, CAI, BOM, and DEL all seem like likely candidates..

I think that the SYD and AKL service is currently most at risk of losing service based on its overall performance. Especially with the 3rd daily that is in place now, capacity on the SYd route is too high and the amount of capacity can easily be handled with a smaller aircraft.

Great news so far.
It's only a matter of time before BOM, KHI, ISB, DEL etc. come online. All have enough demand for at least a few flights per week. Whether these airports are 'ready' for the A380 is entirely another matter, of course...

Quoting Babybus (Reply 9):

Makes sense, but expected increased demand during the holidays, Eid etc. and that's only O&D. Those who don't deplane at Dubai can always continue to one of the dozens of cities east of Dubai served by EK.

Haha yes, all pax deplane in DXB. I meant, those who don't terminate their journey in DXB can continue to a great number of onward destinations.

Under the present circumstances, BOM will NOT get the A380 until its renovation is completed.

Few flights a week??

If it were EK's way they would have had multiple daily A380s flying from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

But still those 550-600 seater A380s are yet to come, so once they are in, you know where they are going!

Well it seems that the A380 rumour is over already, I have heard from several people in the know that its more likely that a third service will start with a B777 with 1st class offered.

I have just been reading on TAS MANCHESTER.COM the above statment reguarding MAN take a look at the site

CDG "IS" seeing the EK A380 already. The service just went daily from 17th Jan.

Similar to MEL, which is why i strongly believe EK decided to reroute one of the three flights via KUL.

If any SYD was to be dropped, I doubt that it would be the EK A380 service (EK412/413) as it seems to be the most popular one. Besides, it also connects with the most destinations on EK's network when compared with EK414/415. Just my 2c!

I am mostly happy that JFK will see the return of the EK Whale!  Smile Smile

What do you mean by "First Class offered"? Are there not any flights to/from MAN with First Class in the aircraft?

When will this EK A380 route start?

It seems like EK is now finding a way to fill up their destinations with the big whale! Good news! Any other Canadian route expected (If I'm not mistaken they only fly to YYZ right?)? Would they be served by the A380?

Excellent news!

I thought DAC was a good profitable destination for EK ? Are there any plans in the near term for A380 service to from DXB to DAC or LHR to DAC direct ?
