I have always been curious about the inner workings of Lufthansa Regional and would be great if someone with more knowledge would answer my questions.
How does LH decide which one of its regional carriers flies a particular route? Since its regional carriers range from wholly-owned subsidiaries like CityLine to partially owned ones like Eurowings to Contact Air, which has no Lufthansa ownership ties. Does each regional airline bid for a contract similarly to what happens with US carriers?
My second question has to do with the livery. There is the "official" LH Regional livery, but it seems to me like there are no uniform rules on its adaptation. Until now CityLine had carried the regular LH livery with or without the Regional titles on the fuselage, but the latest delivery of E195 introduced a new CityLine livery with the LH Regional tail and CityLine titles on the fuselage. The other airlines have liveries that range from full LH Regional ones, to LH Regional tails but with the name of the individual airline on the fuselage, to completely individual liveries, like in the case of Air Dolomiti. How are liveries decided?
