As you may know Boeing will open a new office in Madrid, Spain. I think they want to have a stake on the new Iberia´s fleet.
I think Iberia will keep retiring their 727, MD80 and other Boeing aircraft and replace them with Airbus.
I think eventually Iberia´s fleet will be the following :
727 & MD80 A319&320
But I think that other spanish carriers like Spanair and Air Europa will start buying Boeing 777 and 737.
Boeing is also opening and office in Mexico City I think that Aeromexico will became an all Boeing fleet and Mexicana will go for Airbus.

Last Sunday a local paper (EL PAIS) carried an article about Boeing, which mentioned the center that they intend to open in Madrid. Apparently it is going to be a small scientific center focusing on environmental and air traffic matters. Also a Barcelona University (!!???) was going to cooperate.
If anybody has more info about this, please post it, I am really interested...

It is possible but...do not forget that Iberia is now a private company. In the past, Iberia has bought Airbus because it is an european manufacturer, Iberia was a part of an state-owned holding and Spain is in the EU. Period. At this moment, Iberia is not going to have political compromises (at least, theoretically) and its decision could be Airbus or Boeing but not because of political motivations.
I have heard even that Iberia is going to have 747-400s because A-340 does not have capacity enough for crowded routes. When A-380 starts to operate, that should change.

This must be more for the services end of Boeing's business. IB, like LH, will not place another order for Boeing airplanes as far as I can see. 744s?, no way never. The pressure from all corners against this buy would be too great.
