I have a mystery involving my shiny new HP laptop en route from Shanghai to Seattle. I have a FedEx tracking number from HP and have been following the progress.

The last scan in Shanghai is at 8:45PM local time on January 22nd.

The first scan in ANC is at 1:17PM local time on January 22nd.

So far, so good. The weird thing is that FlightAware is not showing any FedEx flights from PVG to ANC that can fit those scan times. However, UPS 81 departed PVG at 9:18PM local time on the 22nd and arrived ANC at 11:55AM local time on the 22nd. Those times would fit perfectly with the scans.

FedEx has ANC arrivals from Shenzhen (SZX) at 11:39AM, Hong Kong (HKG) at 11:48AM, and Taipei (TPE) at 11:53AM, but they are all quite a ways from Shanghai.

I can't imagine UPS and FedEx are sharing space on flights, so can anyone help me understand what's going on here. Is FlightAware broken?

Not very accurate from time to time.

The scan times dont represent the flight times, its usually when the plane is loaded at a hub and unloaded at the hub and scanned as it moves through and area of the hub. if it wound up missing they would know where the last scan usually was but what you see is public as there are internal scan information you dont see. At least thats how they used to do it in mem

i can see for 80 miles

I thought this thread was going to be about the package track over on fail blog. It shows a package going ONT-IND-ORY-MEM-ORY-EWR-MEM.... and then the track just ends there as it looks like the package was supposed to be going somewhere in the Netherlands.
