Per a report at IAH Spotters, via a WSJ (Wall Street), ANA is looking at IAH. Has anyone heard anything?

Support Airliners.net - become a First Class Member!

If CO/NH/UA get ATI would NH actually need to use their own metal into IAH or would they be better off using CO metal ?

I think Houston could support a second NRT flight. While CO seems the logical choice, putting an ANA 787 into there would be nice.

IAH CAN support a secont NRT flight, but I'm very optimistic about the UA/CO/NH ATI. Maybe CO want to fly a second frequency , but they're short in widebodies , so NH might be interested.

Another variable would be premium demand. ANA's 77E would have an extra 20 J class seats than CO's, and ANA's 77W could add a first class product as well should the market warrant it. Also, it probably wouldn't hurt CO to free up a couple 777s, but I don't see them leaving.

I wouldn't be surprised if CO/NH rearrange their ops based on a HND/NRT split.

On what basis? CO-only to Haneda and ANA-only to Narita?

CO will - at most - get one of the four Haneda slots, and it is useless for Newark or Houston unless they want godawful times.

It would be an ideal situation to have what you suggest, but it won't be possible.

Definitely possible though a second frequency to the NYC area is a higher probability considering that NH is reconfiguring its 77W with even lower seating density.
NH has plenty of long-haul capacity now and upcoming, so anything is possible.
Note: Seat count will drop from 247 to something like 212. (This is on a 77W!)

No doubt it would be a logical choice, I mean CO is short on Longhaul a/c as it is. I sure hope ICN is in the works for CO but where would start it from EWR or IAH hmm??

Has anyone thought about the possibility of a double daily 787 being operated by each airline at different times of the day? The JV makes that possible now.

I have no inside knowledge, but God I hope so!

Ever since Star Alliance was announced, I've dreamt about adding NH to Narita and OZ to Seoul. It would certainly help free up some widebodies at CO which are much needed elsewhere in the system.

I'd be happy with letting CO shift even more INT'L focus to EWR if it meant landing more foreign carriers at IAH!
