Cathay announces another package for Karachi-USA travellers
.......KARACHI : Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airways, which claims many a first in the aviation field to its credit, on Tuesday announced yet another special package from Karachi to Los Angeles and San Francisco in the USA. Sohail Younus, Sales Manager Pakistan of Cathay Pacific Airways, unfolding the package told a luncheon get-together here that the offer starts from May 15 and would be valid till December 31.
.......At a time when several foreign carriers have rolled back their operations from Karachi, Cathay's latest move is indicative of the confidence it has in the growth potential in the Pakistani market.
.......Operating three times a week from Karachi via Hong Kong, the passengers will be entitled to three free coupons for any destination of their choice in the US. One night stopover is also available on a return trip, he said.
.......He said that Cathay Pacific Airways, which started its thrice-weekly service to Karachi via Bangkok from September last year, has done wonderfully well during the eight months of its operations to Karachi. The load factor, which remained around 35 percent during this period, touched over 50 percent last month, which was very satisfying for the airline.
.......Sohail Younus expressed satisfaction over the traffic growth and revenue yield and said that the airline, from the very next month of its operations to Karachi, ie, October last year, was on a breakeven point and now it has started making money.
.......Elaborating the details relating to the new package, he said that the service between Karachi and USA would be operated using Airbus Industrie A330-300 with an enhanced cabin featuring greater legroom. The aircraft is designed to carry 44 passengers in the Business Class and 267 passengers in the Economy Class.

The service should be highly popular not only with the business travellers, but also with the holiday travellers and the Pakistani students. By operating thrice a week service on the route we are confirming our commitment to providing quality and convenience of travel to the people of Pakistan", he said.

.......Earlier Feroze Jamal, Managing Director, Aviation Services (Pvt) Ltd, who are the General Sales Agent (GSA) for Cathay Pacific Airways, introduced the subject and spoke on the interest Cathay has in the Pakistani market and beyond. He regretted that some of the foreign airlines have stopped coming to Pakistan, which offered plenty of opportunities to the foreign carriers.
