A Cimber Sterling ATR-aircraft has just been blown of the runway at Bornholm-Rønne Airport and it slided about 15 meters of the runway.

Guess eastern Denmark is seeing quite a snowstorm today?

Yes it is very hectic. My mother's boyfriend is a taxi driver and he is one of the only taxi drivers who have been at work this evening, there was no need for more taxis, I think.

It is blowing 14 meters per second and has a temperature of -1.2 degrees.

I'm really getting tired of the snow!

Apparently this happened on the pilots second attempt to land at RNN, after 40 minutes of circling in the air above Bornholm because of the bad weather (the flight CPH-RNN is only what, 30 mins or so). The flight was already three hours late.

The pilot managed to get the a/c of the grass and on to the asphalt again, and it has already returned to Copenhagen according to bt.dk. Pretty impressive I think, considering that the island is at a complete standstill, and the police advices everyone to stay inside... let's hope they didn't rush the plane back to pick up Donald Duck and Queen Magrethe II for a flight to KRP  Wink ..

Best regards,

Wind gusting between 25 and 30 kts from 230 degrees on runway 29, and new snow on the runway. Not a very enviable situation.

Luckily the grass strips along the runways are well frozen, so nothing happened.

Plane was on hold awaiting improved visibility while a snow shower passed by.
