Quoting Qantasguy (Thread starter): Does anyone here know the name of the TAA 727-276 aircraft VH-TBK? It was the one done up in the "Central Australian" Livery back in the '80s.
An interesting question which begged a bit of research. VH-TBK, on delivery 8 Nov 74 wore the "white T" livery and was named "John Faulkner". It was repainted in the special "Central Australian" livery and named as such 4 Apr 80. In the mid-80"s (cant be any more definitive) TBK was repainted in the "Camel Hump" livery and renamed "William Gosse", the ac flew its last revenue service with that livery and name on 22 Nov 86. As an aside, imho those special liveries were a great marketing tool for TAA, it was a shame they didnt proceed with the plans they had (there were another couple of special theme liveries that were being considered).
The source of my research is a very definitive work called www.aussieairliners.org. Some very nice photos of TBK there too.
remember the t shirt "I own an airline"on the front - "qantas" on the back

Thank you so much for helping me with this. It's been a long time since we got to ride the "T Jets"
