Today, Saturday 1/30/10 is the last day for nwa.com and NW-coded flights.

nwa.com will be shut down at 2am EST Sunday 1/31/10 and will redirect users to delta.com. Saved links within nwa.com will redirect to delta.com

All legacy-NW flights are recoded as DL flights as of 1/31/10
All inventory has been combined into a single inventory on the DL platform.
All existing NW reservations have been migrated over to become DL reservations

-----
Hopefully everything goes smoothly tomorrow with the cutover system-wide to the DL platform.
NW has been very good to use with their use of technology and a very functional website. Hopefully DL will make enhancements to make the customer experience just as good.

At the same time, congrats to DL for making the transition as seemless as possible during the merger. Everything to date as gone off very well and I have been impressed with the fact that DL has methodically worked through all the tasks and spent the time to make this go off well, and not ramming the merger through quickly at the expense of the business or the customer.

I have to say DL has done an incredibly fast job bringing hte two compaties together. That said, I'm sorry they didn't keep the NW IT platform, as it was 100% better. The good news, NW CIO got the same position at DL. Hopefully, and sooner rather htan later, she'll bring DL IT systems into the 20th century (since into the 21st century might be too much to ask for).

RIP NW. You have served me well and for that, I thank you. We'll find out later tonight if I fly a DL flight tomorrow morning or if I take the last ever NW DTW-GRR flight.

For the most part. No more NW code, no more Northwest in announcements at the airport, and no more Northwest callsign over the radio.

So did I. I'm going to miss the NWA style timetable, with the direct/nonstop flights only.(downloadable PDF)
Any chance DL will "adopt" the NW timetable style???

Does anyone know what the last NWA coded flight will be? I am referring to the last flight to land, from where to where. I imagine it will come into MSP.

The flight being recognized as the last NW flight is NW2470 from LAX-LAS. This is the last departure under the NW code, although given the short length of the flight it is probably not the last arrival.

It has been mentioned that Delta.com will receive a complete overhaul this year. And to build on that, after the dust settles I wouldn't be surprised to see investments in new technologies to like many have said, bring the airline into the 21st century technology wise.

While it is true that the NW call sign will be gone, the name will not. I have to imagine that just like NW a/c flying in DL colors having to do radio calls as "NorthwestXXXX in Delta colors" we will have to have "DeltaXXX in NW colors" for the airframes that remain (or always will be until retirement) in NW paint.

Its a sad day for many. NW has served well and its people have served well for many decades. The RIP parties will be quite emotional.

It will be interesting tomorrow on how well this roll out goes off. The people involved in the blending of two multi-billion dollar companies with two distinctly different employee cultures have done a fantastic job of intergrating the two companies and the merger has been incredibly smooth, all things considered.

I think DL missed a good opportunity to carry on some of NW tradition with the new livery. They should have left the tail of all aircraft NW red, and used the tradition red and blue widget positioned like it is now. I think that would have both looked good and honored the history of NW, much the way that America West elements are reflected in the current USAirways livery.

To all you NW employees, past and present, I tip my hat to you all and say "Job well done!"

Good thing.

As much as I like DL, the current delta.com doesn't render properly in Firefox, although it's a supported browser for delta.com. That site must have been designed for IE6, with hacks added in later for IE7 and Safari/Google Chrome.

Also, will there be Delta iPhone, Android, or BlackBerry apps to go with the new delta.com (WN has an iPhone app), and/or a desktop widget a la AA's DealFinder? Hopefully, if DL does the desktop widget, they base it on Adobe AIR so it can run on Macs and Linux and not limit it to just Windows like AA does. As a Mac user and AAdvantage member, I hate it when AA literally begs me to download DealFinder for the special offers but I can't due to the fact that I use a Mac.

IE 8 is free to download for everyone. I do agree that it would have been better for DL to use the NW website.

Per the weekly flight ops update, the call sign will just be Delta, even for aircraft that have not been repainted yet. There is no need for "in Northwest colors".

Sad to see another one go in what seems to be a slow and painful process for Aviation lovers and with the official end of the website that will be a big hit.

I decided to save a picture of the website as a memory. Press the Print screen button on the top right corner of the keyboard the button should read Print Scr/Sys Req or something similar. Later paste into Paint under Programs-All Programs-Accesories.

A shame to see you go NWA!

I'm somewhat sad to see it go. I spent quite few nights on nwa.com waiting to see if my Elite upgrades had gone through. That said, I wasn't thrilled with the interface, and the search functions weren't that great.

I guess this is a dumb question, but after tonight will the NW code cease to exist in every GDS?

It seems NW2470 is landing as I type. Maybe pulling off the runway.

So this leads to the next question: What will be the last NW flight left in the air? When will the Northwest callsign be used last?

As I said in the other thread it looks like NWA 248 DTW to AMS scheduled arrival is 10:20 UTC.
Two other flights to AMS from MSP and MEM just before that one.
